Dealership

I got to thinking while I was in the shower last night. What do y'all do to make sure the dealership actually performs the required maintenance on your M's(or non M's). I always take a picture of the odometer to make sure they aren't going for joy rides.

I just check the paperwork versus the vehicle maintenance schedule to ensure they did what they're supposed to; never check the odometer TBH.

You probably need to find another dealer SA you trust.

Yeah what's wrong with the question? Valid question considering how shady most dealerships are when it comes to these types of things

Your question is all over the place. Are you just talking about joy riding? Or whether they're actually doing the maintenance work?

For the latter, they would be committing fraud. Considering how hard it is to get a BMW franchise these days and the massive brand reputation it'll cause, I highly doubt any of this will happen.

That's why I don't understand the question. If you don't trust the dealer then buy the parts and labor yourself. Better yet, do the labor yourself... better yet, go to the factory where they make the OEM parts and hand pick it off the assembly line yourself. While you're at it, inspect their quality control reports and financial records to ensure they're kosher. Make sure you personally fly the parts back with you in a carry on luggage, and whatever you do, and DO NOT leave your bags unattended. TSA agents will swap out your OEM parts with Chinese made parts.

You wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Chill.

It was a simple question. There has to be a reason behind it? Why put so much faith into someone taking care of your 100k car? It's called taking protective measures to protect your 100k investment.

I was simply just wanting to know what others do, because surprise surprise others to the same as well. Did you read the post right above my last one? Point proven

Never had a problem with joy rides on 335i, e92 m3, m4, e60/f10 m5's

Occasional horror stories about a new employees or some porter taking it out and beating on it...

But thats why I went higher on the car scales GT-R only an authorized GTR tech is allowed on the vehicle.

My R8 only the service manager and my SA are allowed in the vehicle, when I chat with the porters when I'm doing small maintenance they always tell me they ask if they can pull the car around and they are told no.

Nothing against BMW but the service department at most dealerships filled with young kids that don't know jack shit. I recently found a snap on 14mm on a bolt inside my engine bay after getting my car back I even tried going to a different dealer and have had countless issues after getting my car back. Luckily I have a buddy who works at a performance shop who is the only one I am going to allow to touch my car. Just use caution when taking you car to get worked on. The dealer creates this great atmosphere but its far from that in the bay.
