New B&O speakers-break in?

I was wondering, do these speakers need to be broken in? If so, what is the proper procedure?

Great question. It's always prudent to break them in and allow the rubber to soften up over time. During our ed I kept the radio on and keep increasing the volume slowly for the first few days. After that we rocked out. Each day was 4-8 hrs of driving.

Never heard of this before, pretty cool and makes sense. I'll have to pass it on to our customers. Learn something everyday

You will notice a diff in sound as well once the rubber loosens the magnet can push and pull it further( more excursion ). The sound will be come a bit deeper. I don't have a clue what b&o recommends but my home speakers required a 40 hr break in (b&w).

Speakers don't require mechanical break-in in the same way that a car does. What you will notice is that after a certain number of hours the speakers will sound less harsh and mechanical and begin to sound more pleasing, natural and musical. The only way to break in new speakers is to play music. As long as the speakers are played at reasonable levels there's no problem. Amps and speakers will typically sound 'distressed' when played above their specified maximum power settings. Remember that your ears acclimatize to increasing volume so avoid gradually turning up the volume during the journey as its pretty easy to get to ear damaging levels.
