I don't do anything other than going for manual car wash at the gas station That's the beauty of it. The paint job is pretty maintenance free.

Great review, I appreciate the time and insight you provide.

How is the car doing on efficiency? What sort of l/100km are you seeing in real world driving so far? I know 9.9 is the published avg, but just curious what you are actually getting.

Cheers to a beautiful car.

I see gas in the US is over $4/gal. It'll be interesting how that plays a role in US sales.

Pls let us know the mileage or l/100 km. Hopefully it'll be better than my current M3 14.2l/100km.

Will probably need to reset the counter for a more accurate figure later. I have not glanced at it so far. Consumption figures tend to improve a lot after running-in. Will report back again...

Consumption so far

M5 is showing 15.2 litre/100km vs 17.1 litre/100km for the M3. Note that the M5's figures are likely to improve as consumption tend to improve after running-in plus there was a bit of exuberance (and lunacy) post run-in. My driving pattern is 60-70% city stop start driving. Will reset the meter tmr morning for a fresh start.

Errr, that is still terrible. How much start/stop do you have vs driving? Have you tried the Auto off efficiency mode yet?

Maybe let us know about your driving since the driver plays the biggest role in gas consumption.

Was your M3 getting 17.2 then driving the same loop? I guess 2 points better is still better.

Yeah, the M3 gets exactly the same driving pattern. I always disable the auto start/stop. It's annoying. As said, I have reset the counter and things should improve going forward. During this period, heavy footed driving is quite the norm.

Thx for the info Clar. 17.1 with the M3 is indeed heavy footed, well done sir

Still looking at least 2 l/100km improvement as a min is a great start over the M3.

Stupid question, how much is premium fuel there?

Yikes! That is pretty close to double. I think the figure with the 'spirited' driving will be pretty accurate. How many of us are really going to not be temped to to merge onto the highway with exhilarating vigor?

Dam, living in Qatar already sounds glorious.

Not sure if I'd get used to a land of sand though.

My wifes X5M for comparison, I rarely drive it and she does mostly in town gets 15.2 L / 100km, I have a 2009 911 Turbo and under normal driving I can get 10.7 L /100 km.
Our big heavy work trucks get between 16 and 17 L/ 100 km diesel fuel ( the fuel of satan )
So I don't think the fuel economy is going to be the greatest but I still want one and can't wait till we can order them in Canada..........
