Leather Dye for Silverstone Interior - Very Angry
So, I just brought my 2013 M5 home (Dominican Republic). Since it came home on a ship, it was filty (in and out). So I paid this hi-end carwash a hefty fee to do a 7 step car wash (chemical guys) products, claybar, etc... They also will use premium products for interior etc.
The interior is pretty much immaculate with the exception of door handle scuffs and a bit of peeling on driver side seat bolster. Absolutely no scuffs or paint peeling off white (silverstone interior). I just got to the carwash to inspect how the process was going, and apparently they rubbed too hard on the center console (arm rest for driver). They peeled paint and i am P_SSED. REALLY REALLY ANGRY. My next option to make sure my interior holds up is to look into OEM Silverstone DYE for the interior to touch up any part that receives excessive wear. I did not really find anything but this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Professional...gqGPJ8MEnztL5Q I know of a reputable shop that does wonders with leather. I just want to make sure I buy the right Dye. Thoughts? |

M5 Dye

OK, I know a bit about that. Color match is not a big issue for the leather, in most cases you can pretty much blend really off colors ( if your technic is good ). There are a lot of products out there as well, it is difficult to get the right stuff. It is paint ( dye ) after all which has to sink in into the leather. THe steps that I use is to make sure that all of the original leather is degreased fully, then I start applying dye with a sponge ( nice and easy ). To be honest nothing worked out for me as good as the original as of yet, but it lasts about year or so before new coat has to b applied. The rear and tear shows most on the seats ( creases ) dash, center console and the pieces you don't touch too mush they hold up nice. Depending on how much you love your car, you may be able to come up with used pieces that will replace the damaged ones. Now as for the shop that was doing the clean up, I personally do not think that they have rubbed the leather too much to go through the paint, I think that was dirty enough that IT LOOKED OK and when they started the clean up the discoloration just showed up like crazy ( usually very dark ). Another option for you, would be to talk to any shop that does leather furniture, I'm sure that closer to Santa Domingo you should be able to find someone to help. You could get your leather re-wrapped and they could supply you with the proper leather ??? Just an idea. Hope that give you some help |

Funny timing. I was just cleaning the inside of my car and I was using Meguiars leather conditioner and it took off the dye, revealing the yellow natural leather color. After the shock wore off I actually took it into BMW and they had an interior guy come out and re-dye the leather. It was $75 bucks and looks perfect!
