2013 M5 to 2014 M6

Hello guys,

I recently trade in my MCB 2013 M5 for a SG 2014 M6, here are the summary. I don't know if I got a decent deal or not, what do you guy think

Trade in 2013 M5 MSRP: $113K, 13,500 miles, for $75,000. Pick up 2014 SG M6 coupe MSRP: $126,400 for $114,125, around 10% off, what do you guy think, below are the pictures:

Excellent choice. Have been thinking of doing the same!

Can't give feedback on the deal as I don't haggle too hard....I'm usually happy getting a car at a couple $$ under MSRP and trading in for a couple $$ over KBB trade-in value. So congrats and enjoy!

Both awesome cars.

If I understand correctly you paid 38k to put 13,500 miles on the F10?

$2.81 per mile not including tax, ins, fuel?

Turbo,

I paid $83,500 for the F10 M5 used in October 2013 at 7,200 miles. To put it in your perspective, it cost me $1.35 per miles not including tax, ins, and fuel.

Lol...
To understand if you got a good deal...it would have been key info to know how much you paid for the M5. Not just the MSRP and how much you sold for.
Seems to me you did well.

If this car (M5) is in Canada, then the trade in value is about right (just based on my recent trade in transaction as well - I got a residual of about 71% of the MSRP with about 21,000 miles on the clock). However, the M6 here in Canada is currently offering $15K off from the factory side and one can get another $6K more from the dealer easily. Thus, grand total discount would be around $20K off on the M6. M6 does not sell well in Canada at all. Most buy the M5 or M6 GC ... 4 doors.

I gave a hard look at the orange grand coupe with cp that they have and I only have go pay 10k more but decide not to get it. I think, personally, is a beautiful car but I dislike the comp package because the ride is a bit stiff in comfort mode and it just feels weird to me to have a four door coupe and I don't really need the extra two seat, I like the fact that the M6 is the lighest with the same amount of up and the handling is betterthan the M5

you didn't lost anything! you drove a beast for 7.5 months and enjoyed it.. didn't you?
BTW, how do you feel when you compare the M5 to M6 since you have both experience?

M6-coupe,

I feels the M6 are more agile in every way but the M5 is more comfort in every way, so it is a little trade-off. Also, I notice people looks at the M6 more than the M5 when you drive on the street lol.

Exactly people often fail to understand the intrinsic value that an amazing car brings. Its measured subjectively but there is a value in "feel" associated with a depreciating asset.

They made around $4000 in your deal. You did not get a good deal.

You should NEVER trade your car in unless it has mechanical issues that you are covering up or damage in history. Dealerships will literally double their profit in these "trade" in type of situations. I have a lot of friends working at dealerships, including GMs, so I know what I'm talking about.

Maybe if you leased, then I'd say, maybe, because of the tax benefits, which may change from state to state. In NJ, if you trade in a car you own and get a lease, you are exempt from the tax, which can be significant in 6 figure cars.

Even if you dont lease, most states that assess sales tax on a purchase will give a sales tax credit for the trade-in value towards the sales tax on the current car. That can be significant.

Do you ever feel much of a difference when putting your foot down on the highway, asking because I'm debating over an M5 or M6 GC
