LCI Headlight question

I'm inching closer to obtaining my m5. But i'm a little confused on the headlight situation. I for some reason thought all 14+ models came with the new updated lights. But when i build my car online, under executive package it has the (full lci headlight options under it)

does this mean i HAVE to spend an extra 6k for the new lights??

To be quite honest, my m5 was going to be barebones. I don't need soft close etc. But i do want the new headlights. Suggestions?

edit*
I just looked at a bunch of listings, and i didn't see one 14 or 15 car with the old headlights.. so this has to mean the new ones are standard...?

The LED headlights were an option for my 14'. Not sure about 15's and 16's. Soft door close is definitely a luxury but I couldn't imagine living without it.

i'm 25, i definitely don't need soft close, stupid curtains, and hud display etc.

what i do need is under the hood.

I would strongly advise getting the HUD. It may seem like a stupid option but I'm not sure I would buy a car without one, now that I've had one.

LED lights are part of the exec package on the lci models. If you don't select the exec package, then you get the standard xenon lights which are a bit different than pre lci cars, but look very similar.

This one has the lci standard xenons:

http://www.cnet.com/roadshow/auto/2015-bmw-m5/

This one has the older ones - actually lots of pics of 2013 M5s with the older ones:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ad-test-review

Yeah, the difference between pre lci and lci on the xenons is pretty subtle - go for the LEDs, they look amazing! And you get all the other goodies "for free"!

I have executive, however the production date was on the "edge" before the LCI. Don't ask, it was a rough patch for me and my dealer.

Barebones M5? Are you going to use it as a taxi or limo service for clients who are in a rush? J/k.

I would say at least get the exec package. Barebones M5 just sounds wrong...

I have a mid 14 with only LED package, nothing else. To be honest I was looking for one with exec package, but this one won me with the longer warranty and lower miles, and correct color combo.

If u don't get the LCI then to covert to those style headlights is a 5K cost. However, 180 sells a replica version which looks almost exactly like it. Cost 2K and bolts up to the existing harness without any modifications.

have you done this? pics, thread?

from what i read, i thought the full LED lights needed new harnesess etc when swapping from xenon.

I am the 2nd owner....but during my research it was about $2k option.

It might be under "lighting package"....can't remember.

I was going to start a thread on this but noticed one had already been created. Can you confirm this is Pre-LCI:
