Is anybody else blowing fuses?
Second time this has happened to me and the car has less than 300 miles. The fuse is the circuit for the driver's seat and the driver's airbag. I'm driving along and it suddenly happens. No discernible reason or cause. Suddenly the airbag warning light pops on with a message to immediately get service and the drivers's seat controls are frozen.
The last time I had my Escort radar detector plugged into the accessory outlet between the cup holders, but the detector was plugged in over an hour before the fuse blew. And of course, the detector is designed to operate out of a cigarette lighter outlet like the accessory outlet in the console. Weird. Anybody else experience this problem? |

I'm responding to my own post because this could be important. This is what was reported to me by my SA. After re-wiring my seat, the service manager took my car for an extended test drive (which I had given permission for earlier in the day). After about twenty minutes, he felt the seat's lumbar support start to suddenly inflate even though he wasn't touching the button.
The fuse then must have blown because the lumbar support stopped inflating and the airbag warning light came on. Apparently, if the fuse hadn't blown, the lumbar support might have continued inflating and eventually exploded. At the moment, they are looking into getting a new servo module from Germany. Hopefully they will not have to replace the entire seat. I've now been without use of my car for four days in the two weeks I've owned it--once for a bad seat fan, once for a blown fuse and now two days for the second time the fuse was blown. I really miss my car. |

If they replace the seat, have them put one in with side bolsters

sorry to hear your issue. This is the first time I have seen blown fuse issue mentioned in the M5 and the regular 5 series blogs.
Let's hope your dealer can get it corrected ASAP. |

blown fuses
I have had two blown fuses in my cigarette lighter. I don't smoke but i have my cell phone charger constantly plugged in. Just had it replaced for the second time. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. I have also had to have my whole i drive system replaced. It wouldn't hold any pre-sets. my car came with amnesia/alzheimers.

There was a penny or a dime that fell into the 12volt outlet in the armrest compartment. Check if you have any change in it. That's what was causing mine to blow lol.
