Vic have you thought about adding a brabus touch to your car.

Never. Brabus, IMHO, is way too overpriced for what it brings to the table and I dont want to mess with the body of the car. Its just right for me.

Very nice. I may end up going this route also. Possibly looking at May euro delivery.

Its easily used as a DD; comfortable enough in soft suspension mode but still very sporty to drive. My seats are the Performance Seats which have more lateral support but less cushion vs the standard ones. And still I have no issues comfort wise but Ive yet to take the car on a long trip (over an hour).

The AWD system is awesome, very unintrusive from a roll yet stellar grip from a dig and coming out of turns at throttle. I know a few that are driving this car around in the snow and they love it.

Vic,

Ok so now that you’ve had plenty of seat time in the Dark Knight Missle over the past few weeks, can you give a quick comparo of the E63S and your RS7? As in if you needed to pick one....

Actually I havent had that much time, Ive been on a few vacations over the past two weeks so the milegage total is still rather low. Plus I have not tuned the E63S yet. The E63S is the better handler though. It has minimal understeer and amazing grip in, thru, and out of the curves and turns I have driven. I have a ton of confidence pushing this car to my limits and it really is an amazing driver. I can safely bet that a tune will make this car scary. The RS7 is still the sleeker more badass car IMHO and I dont expect it to handle like the E but I never expected the E to handle this good. But Ive been starting to drive the E63s alot this week since Im back.

A member on MBWorld ran his car at 11.10 bone stock; but thats straight line.

Thanks for the response! Yes vacation should always be a priority. Hope it went well. Anyway, it’s interesting to hear your current thoughts. My wife has the simple e300 and for her it’s fine. Not sure I would have the same or similar looking car but if the 63s is so ridiculously over the top I would still consider. The RS7 is badass and now their prices are cratering like the M5s so it might be a play to pick one of those lightly used ones up?.. the new M5 looks too much like my current moonstone M5 so..... not sure this is the route plus the same engine etc and all. A forced change is a comin I’m thinking...

So i drove my RS7 today for the first time in a month, clearly the tune is the difference in throttle response and tq pull down low but its not incredibly faster and the chassis feel/suspension even with springs is far more fluffy than the solid planted E63S. The E63S feels like a sedan version of my AMG GTS and thats saying a lot.

Oh check this out- tune only already at 10.6xx and 130x

Test drove a E63S Wagon today. Impressive. Different than my X5M but looking at it since the new X5M won't be out when my lease is up. Dealer has offered MSRP. Not clear that they will budge and the offered numbers don't yet make sense.

Your edition 1 looks gorgeous. The simple yet tasteful mods makes a huge difference. Looks like it has the ceramic brakes. How do you like them so far? Any squealing?

So far I like them, I did an immediate "bedding" running the car up to higher speeds and braking them down. I did that on my other CCB cars and have had good results. So far no squeaking... but I expect some feedback at some point.

Thanks again to ALL for the kind words.

We pulled this dyno stock on a chassis dyno... added the tune but ran out of time to get it pulled. Then I was out for the weekend so now its going back to my tuner and using a different shop that has time during the holiday pre week. We will reflash the car back to stock, dyno, then flash, then dyno again... I have only driven the car about 25 miles with the tune; its a fast mo fo but I want to see what the gains are from about 2500 rpm to 5k where the sweet spots are of driveability.

Wow, Carlos, I feel for you in regards to pricing and availability but you will be so happy upon delivery. In reality the base model carries all the performance options sans CCBS.

I have the acoustic package and kinda wish I didnt. It tends to isolate a little bit of the exhaust noise- not alot but just a bit. Last night my lady friend was rev'ing it while I was outside of the car so I could hear the exhaust. Wow this thing is crazy loud with barks and pops. I guess at VIR under the Lightning Lap test it was the loudest car at WOT.
Vic, I know it’s been some time since you owned the 458. My impressions thus far it’s all about the V8 sitting behind you. The sound is amazing, and very hard to describe until you have driven one. It’s not as fast as my RS, but close to 600 hps is fast enough for what I will do with the car/enjoy.

I do find the car when you hit 2nd or 3rd really hard the rear does slide out with all the traction controls in play. I have to get use to reacting to the cars movement. The RS with all that rubber on the ground it was very stable and difficult to oversteer unless you just threw it out there.

Ferrari and Porsche looks will always be classic and stay update, and I do love the lines on the 458 move than most cars I have owned and driven. I was on the edge of getting a 488, but it does not sound like a 458. The 458 is a easy car to drive under 50, and the RS begs you to go triple digits. The Spider version is a step up in the sound factor because you hear that engine roar which is apart of the experience. I’m clearly satisfied with the purchase, and my Spyder Porsche manual which I will not sell keeps me tied to the Porsche feel which is in a league in its own in that category.

I had the same "issues" with my 458... cold tire wheel spin at times. It went away rather quickly as I warmed up the tires but I remember some cold days where I was pulling a left and got just a bit too aggressive and felt the tires slipping a bit under me. Ill guess that you are not running the same level of grip that came with your RS (Sport Cup 2).

Yup Cup 2’s are like glue. But I will not drive the F car like the RS. Will have fun but, RS you can pound the you know what out of it.
