F10 M5 steering system EPAS or Hydraulic?
So with the new F10 having swtiched over on the RWD models to Electric Assist power steering, does any one know if the new M5 will have EPAS also or still keep the traditional Hydralic Power steering system? the F10 xDrive models still have Hydraulic steering so I am keeping faith that is the case also with the F10 M5.
Any news on this? Scott26, can you give us any clue on this? Thanks

Autocar quoted the head of development from BMW M division, Albert Biermann, saying that the new M5 would have a 3rd generation of fully electric power steering.

To answer NSA's question, the F10 M5 has hydraulic steering.

Invented many years ago (I recon in the E32 7 series). It regulates the pressure of oil sent to the steering rack.

I haven't been able to discern a difference in ratio while changing through them.

Good read. I know how most of the components work, but never knew exactly how the M5's servotronic operates.
Would of never guessed that the firmness of the steering was adjusted electronically by altering the oil pressure. I would guess that comfort has the highest oil pressure and sport plus has the least oil pressure. I would think that because if the system is off (no oil pressure), then turning the wheel is like having no power steering. Is servotronic separate from power steering?
