Judging by the videos posted by Jason (link above), sounds like an incremental improvement. Engine is pretty much the same, so I guess there's only so much that can be done. Not sure that I can hear much of a difference between F90 std. & Sports exhaust. There was a greater difference between F10 std. and CP exhausts IMO. Obviously would need to hear F90 in person to confirm.

Also, perhaps a somewhat cynical view, but for those wanting a more exotic sound from their F90s, this leaves some room for BMW to cash-in on a re-branded Akrapovic full titanium 'M Performance Exhaust' .

If sticking with BMW and acknowledging it lacks luxury features, have you considered an M2 CS?

E46 sounded terrible for NA car. BMW tried too hard; none of the 'turbine' smoothness of the std. straight sixes. BMW's attempt to inject some character with that weird exhaust rattle during WOT sounded more like the engine was being torn apart... oh, wait a minute...

CSL was probably the way to go for the E46 generation.

From what I understand, they made some changes to the cross exhaust manifold. This will change the sound.

Interesting. I can still hear F10 'DNA' in the video albeit with a rorty overtone.

Apologies - should also have said congrats on the M4 before I entered off topic! The dark accents (lights/wheels) are an improvement IMO. Is the 2018 M4 the introduction of the LCI or changes in addition to that?

I can't keep up with BMW anymore, they definitely seems to have deployed an agile development methodology with significant changes outside of LCIs.

Also, may I ask what you found too much about the R8 as a DD? I've been recommended one as a potential replacement to the M5 on several occasions. I did follow one on the motorway the other day and it look very wide (and low) for UK roads. The sound and response from the N/A engine must be a major plus?

We can't rely on this video or any recorded sound unless we see the real car.
As far As M2 CS I would definitely go for that car if I was in 20's ... it's about 20 years late for me LOL

I fully understand as I'm a similar age, but it wouldn't stop me owning an M2. Clearly I have no shame, lol.

Having said that I'd rather go for Cayman over M2. If only they hadn't gone the 4 cylinder route in the 718. In my experience 718S + sports exhaust is intrusively loud rather than mellifluous.

Is the M2 CS a "young person's" car? What do you say about the M4?

LOL...
In my opinion 2-series is for 20's and 3/4-series for 30's.
I just got M4 to feel 30's especially MT recalling those days but then I regretted and missed all 3 of my 6-series including M6... Clear enough bro?

To be honest with you Cayman looks more mature than M2

Gorgeous...... R8!

Jk, the M4 looks cool too, but that R8 is lethal. Any reason other than attention/flashiness you can't daily your R8? I was mentioning to Vic55 that the new R8 is #1 on my list followed by a S63 Coupe. Birthday is next week, so time to treat myself.

You can absolutely daily an R8. It's a little flashy but nowhere near as much as my Mclaren was.

R8 is actually very comfortable even without the magnetic suspension. You can even carry a normal conversation at highway speeds without raising your voice.

I started going into my office twice a week so commuting about 40 miles each way. Just didn't want to put that many commuting miles on it.

R8 please!!!!! While the S63 Coupe is easy on the eyes thats where it ends, for me. Its just a big fat luxo barge GT cruiser with semi numb steering and a "boaty" air ride. Dont forget it has the MCT planetary automatic which doesnt feel as connected thru the gears as the DCT. I have an MCT car in the C63S but the TCU adjustments have made it a more liveable transmission. But when I drove the S63 Coupe I didnt feel that same adjustment. The S63C shines on luxury and interior feel but from a performance standpoint coupled with driveability- the R8 is a gem.

I guess it all boils down to your intended type of usage. If you are on the express way in traffic with the car and want a good stop light runner and quick lane change car but wont be making any evasive or more aggressive turns; the S63C could be your car.

I like the R8 for so many reasons though. It can be a daily driver and very very comfortable. It performs like a supercar and sounds incredible. But some wont find it luxurious enough.

EDIT: apologies to the OP for the OT post

how reliable is that R8 generally speaking? My wife has a colleague who bought a certified pre-owned R8 from Audi Dubai 1 year ago and that thing had to go back for transmission and electrical repairs more than 4 times... Can one buy a brand new one and expect it to be reliable or do you think that was a one-off case?

Was that R8 a gen 2 that your wife's colleague bought? I have had both gen 1 and gen 2 (equally modded with tunes and exhausts) and they were/are very reliable. The engine itself is normally aspirated, very high rev'ing and notoriously strong. I have not heard much about electrical issues in gen 1's let alone gen 2's. I think that was a unique case but I do like to always buy brand new vs CPO.

Only issue with R8 is too flashy for me.... Both at school and work, haha. If I got that R8, I'd have to go grab a Rover or something around $75-$80k as a daily. S63 is a swiss army knife. I'm borrowing an R8 from the dealer next week to test it out over a few days, I'll let you know what I think It's only a V10, not a V10+ like yours, haha.

Mine is not a Plus--- its a non Plus with a tune to bring it up to the Plus (VF Engineering Tune). It is a flashy car so if you are taking it to school I think that will be too much But to me, its the best flashy car out there that can still be daily driven. The Porsche Turbo (which I still love) is a bit (just a bit) pedestrian in comparison. The 570S and Huracan are too wild.

Good to know at least it's not a common thing. With how much problems he's had and the dealership not knowing how to fix them time after time, every time I mention Audio to my wife she'd be like no way we will ever buy one!
