Yes it took a while to start getting grip, had been raining that morning but as i put in more runs it got better, tyres are Toyo R888R 315's, but on concrete their not ideal. Interior is just a carbon laminate i had done.

If you see from this angle i did take him, think the trap said 193 mph on my side, but was very scary doing that speed on a really bumpy track:

Not to bad against one of the best launching cars on the planet at the moment.

I had that problem on the GTR too with not being able to get the R888s hot enough to grip, I moved away from them though because of that insanely stiff sidewall to a softer tire because of the shock to the drivetrain they caused.

So, what tire did you end up going with? I am in the market for tires now.

Ran Dunlop Max summer stock they were awful worst tire I've ever used.

20' OEM rim, R888s for my first turbo kit GT800 broke a driveshaft because of the shocking to the trans for 8k miles. They were fine, really stiff, and serviceable in rain, only ever had an issue in very heavy standing rain but if you drove normal it was manageable.

19k miles on NT05R (345/40/18 or 345/45/18 I can't remember) with Nt555, absolutely loved them, only managed a 1.6 60ft, since I was at their max power where I really needed a 17'' Hooiser slick. Drove them in the rain often and while you needed to pay a little more attention to conditions than the R888, they did quite well for what I was expecting when I first got them in the rain. At around 16k miles (probably past their prime anyway) around 60mph in heavy rain you could feel the car start to go sideways, but under 58 it was perfectly fine lol.

5k miles on a NT05R square setup again very much like the above.

Thanks for the detailed response. Looks like I have some decisions to make between the NT555, R888R, and perhaps even the MT ET Streets.

Its gonna be different for you guys because you can't go smaller than 19s, so its not like a GTR/ CTS-V etc. where they can get down to 15'' tires with the right parts... With these big a$$ m brakes. I'd say try the ET streets or Nittos. I've just worked with too many important people in the GTR world who say they're (R888s) NOT good for dig racings very hard on the transmission. I'm not sure how many guys here are making enough power to really stress the system, but its not a risk I'll ever take with any car again (running the r888s).

Seems like the guys having the best results (and I've not diagnosed all the threads) are running the mickeys.

I primarily go roll racing with my friends. We generally start in 2nd gear at 40-50 mph. Hard to get any grip with the stock tires. Looking for a tire that will grab so traction is not an issue.

Yeah, that's what I've seen too from casual observations on this board with the MT's. I have 20" OEM rims so will look to the MT or Nittos.

R888 should be enough if just roll racing, especially if you can do a quick hit driving toward the roll site to get them hot or warmer. I wouldn't use that tire if I was doing digs though but thats just me
