AWD/Fast/Comfortable Daily Driver
Hey guys,
Currently in a 6MT 15 M3. Looking for BIT more of an all rounder. I have my first baby coming, buying a house and my commute may get a bit longer. Not opposed to Sport SUVs if need be. What would you recommend? Give 1 non AWD car and 1 AWD car - Under 100k preferably. Thanks! Chris |

are you looking at under 100k each or for both?
We currently have an standard X5 3.0 and my M5. I have two kids (5 and 7) both cars seems to fit the bill very nicely. Our x5 is a lease and im considering looking at the new Volvo xc60 hybrid for my wife when our lease is up. if you are looking for a SUV under 100k, the Macan S is a great looking and handling car. |

Are you looking for new only and so you want blazing speed? Fuel economy? I like the x5m but I prefer my GL450. More room and great for long distances. Even the base power plant is 0-60 in 5.8. And you can chip it to add 150hp and not worry as its the same power plant as the 550 rated about that power anyway. Gets you into the low 5s on a legit 7 seater luxury. I got mine that stickered for $80k for $41k with 16k miles and a year of factory warranty. Better mpg than x5m and save the cash for something else. Way better carrying capacity too. We traded in a GC Overland Summit Hemi, got better mpg, it's faster, more room, upgrade every way except it doesn't have A.C. seats or auto high beams. Big whoop.

Personally I prefer the interior prior to the update. I don't know if the engines in the different 450's are the same but probably. Ours is all black premium package, driver assist package, and appearance package with 20" wheels. Our engine is a 4.7L v8 twin turbo. Here's the Car and Drivver long term report. We didn't have brake issues and zero rattles. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...wrap-up-review The only two issues were a faulty clamp on the coolant overflow which we were told was common but fired with a different clamp under warranty. A $5 5min fix. And a gas cap that wouldn't seal which they replaced. We are at 40,000 now and it needs new rear brake pads and just got new tires. I added aftermarket HID headlights which were optional. Rest is untouched. We get about 18mpg and gas prices having dropped its $50 to fill. If nothing else I'd test drive one. If you arnt looking for an ultra fast SUV, I suggest the Q7. Build and drive feel is superb. Very quiet and quick enough. Fantastic interior and has all the bells and whistles one would need. Can also seat a 3rd row if needed.

Just test drove the Q7 and found it to be too soft. You're better off with a Macan or a Cayenne although they look dated. SQ5 is sporty and gives you a bit more room than a sedan, but not enough to consider it a true SUV.
