So far, the few M5 car owners and other BMW model owners I have met at gas stations and on the road have always given me a "thumbs up" when they pass me and get my attention.

And what is a 535i? (which is my vehicle) The equivalent of an Altima? And we can't even get them Dinan modded like a 550i M5 wannabe. But I really get a kick out of this forum.

535i's are awesome as long as you don't put an F10 M5 front bumper on it and give it a quad exhaust, even if you never put that ///M5 badge on the trunk lid. People like me could care less if you turn it into a Dinan Stage 34 or whatever. I like people who mod their cars all the same as long as it's not offensive to me.

Seriously though, I'd love to have a 528i with that N20 engine as a daily driver.

I compliment people in non-///M BMW's all the time. I even gave this kid with a sick looking older B6 Audi A4 a big thumbs up, because it was extremely clean and tasteful to me.

I love my 535i. It is bone stock and will remain that way. It will wear its 535i badge with pride. But I admit, I go ga-ga whenever I see an f10 M5. I think they are sex on wheels. But I could never ever take advantage of even a small fraction of the capabilities of that car, and I am not the kind of guy to take his car to the track, so me owning an M5 would just be criminal.

My 535i served me well, loved it all the way until the day I had to say good bye and got the M5. It's one hell of a good car, and tons of compliments as well.

Does suck that throughout the time I owned it, seemed like EVERYONE was ignoring it (Burger Tune included, I had a early production model).

Not everyone who owns a M5 takes it to the track. We just enjoy it. Your 535 is great car in its own respects. If you enjoy it thats all that matters.

I had a 2010 E60 535i with the Dinan Stage 2 tune. The Dinan upgrade really improved the fun in driving. I just wanted the M5 so I was willing to part with it. I probably should have kept it as a backup but I don't have a three car garage and I didn't want to give it to my daughter, too much car for her. So I traded it, sadly. Get the Stage 2 tune, it adds 80hp and makes a big difference. Doesn't hurt your mileage at all if you aren't all over the accelerator all the time.

Dinan hasn't come up with a tune for the f10 535i. The 550i yes. 535i no.

Terry (burger tuning) doesn't have an application for the N55 535? I figured one of the n55 tunes would work. I had his jb4 in my n54 335 and that thing was a blast! Torque monster just like the m5, but on a smaller scale.

Why are you guys judging this guys character based on this one anecdote? Maybe he was having a bad day, he was really stressed, hadn't gotten laid in a while :P etc etc Just because someone refuses to acknowledge you because you have the same car doesn't mean they're an asshole. The guy was probably just trying to live his life. I know sometimes I will be playing with my radio or something and someone will drive by and give me a nod or a thumbs up and I just look at them uncomprehendingly and go back to what I was doing. It also doesn't help that my concentrated face=pissed off face. I get it, I totally understand what you're saying, there's no BMW camaraderie though. I saw an 650i the other day and I gave him a thumbs up. He gave me a frown and took off. Having the same car as someone else doesn't automatically make you guys "br0z 4 lyf3" in most peoples eyes. Unless you're also wearing the same T-shirt, then you were obviously meant to be Br0z

Guys I have some good news from the front.

Yesterday I was driving my F10 M5 back home from getting a car wash, so she was all nice and shiny. I was on the highway and it got pretty trafficky. It got to where I was just cruising in the far right lane at 60mph having fun rocking out on the B&O system. Then all of a sudden I see it in my rearview mirror. There it was, a Sapphire Black Metallic E60 M5 that I could tell was modded. Same color as my F10. I usually know almost every M5 in the SoCal region but this one I didn't recognize. So I see him in the lane to my left and behind me. I slow down. Once he gets to about 1 car length behind me, I let him have it. I downshift to 2nd gear with all the fury that the DCT can. An extremely large ROAR bellows out of my Full Straightpiped F10 M5 and I mash the throttle through the floor. My M5 explodes to life and I accelerate for just a moment. I then shift the DCT to neutral and proceed to give the Twin Turbo V8 monster a few LOUD rev's while the unknown E60 M5 is behind me. I then slow the beast down and roll down my dark 15% tinted driver side window. The other driver of the E60 M5 rolls down their equally dark tinted window as well. I have a big smile on my face and am giving the other driver a big thumbs up. To my elation, the driver of the other Beast has an equally big smile and is giving me a huge thumbs up as well. From the exterior view I could tell that his M5 was lowered, had aftermarket wheels, and an exhaust, which I think may have either been an RPi Exhaust or a Magnaflow exhaust. He then signals over into my lane and mashes his throttle and gets in front of me. His exit was coming up, so he got over one more lane to get off the highway. He gave his M5 one hard throttle acceleration, and for a moment I could hear his exhaust but truth be told it was so quiet. The surprising part was that the other driver looked as if he was easily in his 50's. Some older gentlemen, who I now have great respect for. I could tell this guy was an enthusiast and not just an owner. Super cool guy and we had a great bro moment.

Shortly after that I got a random thumbs up from some lady driving a base BMW E90 328i. Really random, but still epic none-the-less.

A little later on last night, after I put my Straightpiped Beast to sleep for the night in the garage, my girlfriend comes over and we take her little Fiat Abarth out to dinner. Dinner with my lady proved to be delightful. After dinner, we were so full and I elected to drive her car back to my house. On the way home, same highway, we come up to another E60 M5! I was like, my word what a lucky day we have today! My first thought was damn, I wish I was in my F10 right now! The second E60 M5 I encountered was a newer 2009 or 2010 Model Year and was absolutely beautiful! To make things even sweeter, I could tell that it was one of the most rare colors for an E60 M5, Monaco Blue! The M5 looked stock with the exception of some aftermarket wheels, which looked to me to be perhaps some Alpina wheels, but they were moving too fast to really tell. Anyways, his windows were slightly tinted as well, and since we were in my girlfriend's Fiat Abarth, the best I could do was pull up next to it and give it a nice thumbs up. To my pleasant surprise there appeared to be a female driving it and a male in the passengers seat. They both gave us a thumbs up back. Wonderful moment! I honestly could not stop looking at their E60 M5, I almost crash my girlfriends Abarth from looking at it too long. It was so beautiful and clean. I really miss my E60 M5 sometimes. In many ways, it's just so perfect. One day I must own one again along side my F10 M5. One day.

So there we go, 3 great stories all in one evening. 2 from fellow M5 owners and one from a random stranger. There's still hope for humanity. As the great Bob Marley once said "M5 Loooooove is my religion," or something like that!

Nice Dave! There have been some recent here too...and one full bro moment with an attractive young lady driving a VW GTI. Kids were asking what the lady was saying to me. HA!

Exactly!!! She rolls window down, we exchange some words...meanwhile my kids arguing about what song to be played next. Pull away from the light, and the 9 y/o in the front seat asks..."What were you talking about with that lady in the VW?" I was thinking...let's not ruin it for Dad, I still have game
