extended warranty

This is a long ways away but i thought about... if i want to buy the M5 at lease end will they allow me to get an extended warranty for a price? i did see one response on another thread where he was able to get the car at a discounted price certified CPO... whats the norm have people done this recently?

also what about purchasing. If you purchase can you buy the extended warranty any time before the factory runs out or it must be done at or soon after purchase?

In Canada you can purchase it any time during the first 4 years/80k of original manufacture warranty. I'm assuming in the states it is the same.
