I'd stay away from Dinan. I had issues with my 335 flash and they did not stand by their product. They lost me as a customer

I would stay away from Dinan. I don't think their numbers are real. There's a lot of proof in this forum.

BMW called to say that it's in and I can schedule the install. I will be doing some quarter runs on the way back from Orla tomorrow and that will conclude my pre tune testing. I am getting stage 2 with the cold air intake.

I had it on my 550i and it made a dramatic difference. Maybe your installer was an amateur and didn't properly flash the ECU.

I spoke with couple SA's from two different dealerships and they both claimed that the warranty will be voided if the car shows up with any type of computer piggy back.
Dinan suggests you remove it before you take it in.......hint hint

Are you sure? I thought Dinan has relationship with dealers and get them installed!!! They claim their products do not void warranty

My local dealer is also the Dinan dealer so theoretically it should be easy to get the issue sorted. Either way they are going to fix it.

I think one of the problems is that we are used to horsepower readings at the wheels, such as on a dynojet. At least that is how BMS reports the gains but Dinan uses the measurement at the crank. Also, unless i missed them, I can't find actual dyno charts on the Dinan website. I know assessing a tune isn't just as simple as max HP and torque gains but it can give you a general idea of the improvements.
I looked at some of the posts regarding Dinan tunes over at Bimmerfest and while some people are happy, there are quite a few people that are underwhelmed with their Dinan tune. Maybe they are expecting more because of the crank horsepower claims, incorrect installation, etc. Just like anything else, do your homework before selecting a tune. By the way, the local BMW dealer is an authorized Dinan installer so I am not sure how removing the tune will do you much good if the BMW dealer actually performed the install. Dealing with the dealer and bmw na claims department are two different things. 6 years ago bmw na sent out a manifest to all dealers stating they will no longer approve claims on Dinan equipped cars.
I've had aftermarket parts installed on the car by a dealership, but when you read the fine print on your invoice it states that you only receive warranty on labor and not on the car or part itself. Food for thought. |

Dinan covers whatever failures are due directly to their product, I believe. In short, if you have a BMW dealership that also is a Dinan dealership, you're covered. Can be a bit tricky if you're dealing with BMW and Dinan individually as BMW is more likely to point fingers.

I didn't mean to say it didn't make a difference bit hr claimed all the difference from 400 to 500 which is not true as car already made 440-450 or so as underrated, that's what I meant and come on torque 580!! 80 more than M5 Do you feel that?!!!!!

I know someone that bought a modified E92 M3, car was serviced at BMW since day 1. Then new owner (female) brought car in and they threatened her with "voided warranty" scare. Regardless, they ate their words and never gave her a hard time again. Anyone with service advisors telling you otherwise, your being lied to. |

Dinan Stage 1 Installed - Dyno and 1/4 Mile Tomorrow
Guys,
Had Dinan Stage 1 installed at a BMW dealership in the Dallas area yesterday. Took it out last night for a 'first impression'. Biggest difference for me, so far, is torque in the mid-range. Did an 'MDM and Mash It' from a standstill. The tires spun through first gear, but not badly. Second gear hit with a bang, followed immediately by a rapid fishtail to the left. (Fun, but it got my heart going...) It 'feels' faster, but it was already fast, so to be sure I'm going to Alamo in Arlington for a dyno run tomorrow. It's a Dynojet, and I know there are differing opinions regarding the accuracy of the various dynos, but it's available tomorrow and I want it done before the 3 day 'money back guarantee' from Dinan expires. I don't have a 'baseline', but I've seen stock M5 dynojet results elsewhere. I'll also head for the dragstrip tomorrow night. I was there two weeks ago in very similar weather conditions, so apples to apples comps should be possible. I'm most interested in trap speeds, since I run stock tires and am traction limited off the line. I'll post the results of both events. One question for the group: Is there such a thing as a 'Dyno Mode' on an F10? The dyno operator said he worried about the ECU shutting down the fun unless the car was set up correctly. (He specifically mentioned that some AMG products must be set up to dyno them, and he thought it applied to BMW also, but wasn't sure.) I'll take any input from the group, but need it soon... Thanks.
