As silly as this seems, I need opinions on color combo. Doing a poll to help me decide.

So vote in the poll which color you like best...

I voted for Singapore with Sakhir as well.

I am going with Alpine and Sakhir. Are you going in to order tomorrow?

Yeah although I don't know if they can actually place the orders tomorrow. I read somewhere the order bank wouldn't open any sooner than May 1st. And then I don't know if they have two allocations. If they only have one I will have to wait. No one seems to be able to answer any of my questions. Oh I recommend you do BMW PC delivery. You may already be planning on that but if you haven't done it before, it is the way to go. Really a no brainer IMO since we are so close to Greer.

Doubt you will be able to place an order tomorrow. The last word to us from BMWNA was that order bank will open sometime the first week of May. So if not tomorrow, then hopefully sometime later this week.

I'd recommend Azurite Black fyi. It has far more depth than Sapphire and includes a very sporty blue undertone that only appears in direct sunlight. Black Sapphire is pretty pure black (not as pure as non-metallic Jet, but close) and Citrin Black is kind of brown...

If I were ordering I'd go Tanzanite Blue with Silverstone interior, with either aluminum or piano black trim. I think Sakhir will be even louder than Fox Red in person, and especially in Full form (which I'd definitely get for the added leather coverage) it will be even more so. The 5 is a big car, so that'll be a LOT of orange.

It's really sad that Tanzanite is only available as a standard option no the 6 Series; I think it would look spectacular on the M5. Not as demure as Imperial but not as loud as Monte Carlo, and has a gorgeous bright undertone in direct light: http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=495046

I voted black sapphire with black interior, because one day you will have to sell your car and no one will want a grey car with red seats.

Oh and I get the Passenger 57 reference. Elizabeth Hurley is beautiful in that film.

Can one put in an order even if no allocations have been given out to the dealers? I asked two BMW M dealers and was told that they won't accept any orders probably until the middle of May though they can take in deposits for the "eventual" purchase. My concern is if I put in a deposit of say, $10,000 I might wind up waiting with that dealer's allocation to come in where another dealer somewhere in the country already has received his and I may have a problem getting that deposit to change dealership. I would like to get anyboody's thoughts on this.

First of all, I think a deposit to reserve an allocation should be no more than $1000, deducted from the total purchase price of the car and not an additional fee just to reserve a spot. But if you're really itching to have this, I guess you'd have to weigh the risk of depositing with a dealer that gets a later allocation vs not paying anyone a deposit and having to wait longer because ALL the dealers will have a backlog. The chances of getting your deposit back I'd say are 50/50, possibly yes because they'll probably be able to fill your allocation spot so they won't lose any money, and possibly no because the whole principle of a deposit is to lock you into the purchase, so that's the penalty for backing out. I'd say your best strategy is to talk to the dealer who currently has the fewest number of deposits down to make sure you get the highest possible spot on their allocation. I doubt any dealers will get deliveries substantially later than others.

And if all else fails, patience is a virtue. It seems you're sure you want the car right away despite the likelihood of first model year glitches and having to pay a huge dealer markup, both of which were issues with the M3 -- but not having to deal with either of those might be nice too. I know I'm happy I got mine after all of the options were available and (apparently) the major kinks had been worked out.

Black. /thread.

My humble 2.2 cents worth: singapore looks horrid and lifeless. Make sure you see it in the flesh before ordering it.

I have a $1000 deposit to get the 2nd M5 they can order. I will be "ordering" tomorrow by giving the local dealer what I want. Whenever the bank opens is when my order will go to BMW.

So who knows when it will be actually ordered.

Well I will have to see it first. Not buying anything I am not totally familiar with. Especially at this price point. Until then, Black Sapphire all the way like a double rainbow!

Why not black sapphire on Sakhir orange? If 4 of my last 5 cars weren't black I'd def opt for that combo.

Then consider trying to find an Azurite Black car in your area before ordering; it wouldn't have to be an M5, and you might find a forum member that has a car for you to see. If you read around, people who end up seeing Azurite vastly prefer it to other blacks that BMW offers, so in this case a little patience to do extra research might really pay off.
