F10 M5 Throttle Mashing
From the E60 M5 to F10 M5:
I really miss the ability to mash the throttle and launch the car. I am not talking about launch control, I am talking about being able to raise the revs at a standstill using the go pedal. Whosever great idea it was to add "creep mode" to the M5, not only does this new feature suck, it stops the ability to mash the throttle. Anyone else miss this feature? I would pay a lot for a DCT tune to get rid of creep mode and allow mashing. Is the TCU encrypted like the ECU? If it is, two years and counting for an ECU tune.. I probably shouldn't hold my breath for a TCU tune.

I don't get it. you can mash the pedal all you want. how does creep mode interfere with that?

You can't raise the revs while at a standstill? Anyone come from E60 M5 and know what I'm talking about?
It would be great if I was wrong but I don't think I am.

Last M5 didn't do this.. and so when you mashed the pedal in that car it would raise the revs and just sit there. if you accelerated, you could coast to a full stop without using the brake pedal because the car had no "creep mode". That's what creep mode is.. and it stops the car from acting like a manual car.

13,000 miles on my M5 and I've never noticed creeping while in gear. I have a 2010 M3 with DCT and had a 2007 M6 with SMG and don't notice any difference.

I found a bit of a work around of double tapping (feathering) the gas petal and it raises rpm without moving but it takes practice. |

I guess I don't play with the throttle when in gear. Once you do, I suppose she'll engage the tranny. Never really noticed any difference in my M3. Either way, I don't get what the issue is.

I use creep mode all the time, just a blink of a light tap on the go pedal to start the car rolling from a dead stop. I use it when pulling into the last few inches of garage or the same when backing up.

I have a laser beam in my garage that I line up to know if I am parked in far enough. When I miss the mark and need to move up, you have to tap the throttle then hit the brake. In my last m5, you just lightly hit the throttle to move up and the second you let off the car stands still.

porsche has solved this recently by dropping the car in neutral temporarily by pulling both paddles at the same time, then, whichever you let go of first is the shift selection for the drivetrain I tried this with the M5, but alas, it does not function that way |

If M felt is necessary to add "creep mode" to the cars, then it should of followed suit with the double paddle pull = N.

although I like taking a foot off the brake at a stop, like a true manual but then this disables auto stop if you use it...lol |

You can sit at a light or at a stop somewhere with your foot off the brake (as long as you bring the car to a full stop). You just cannot coast to a stop or mash the pedal to perform your own launch. Doesn't make sense to me. If anything this is a software "feature" - not a hardware necessity. I would love to ask an m engineer this question.

I currently drive an E60 and have been considering an F10 so I know exactly what you are talking about.
For those that do not understand, in an E60 you can basically quickly tap the gas pedal and rev the engine while remaining stationary or even slightly rolling backwards. It is a subtle move that you get used to and I sometimes find myself lightly doing it at a stop light for no apparent reason other than to hear the engine/exhaust a bit. Likely similar to motorcycle riders. Of course if you do not quickly release the gas pedal....off you go! This is in fact the opposite complaint Tesla Model S owners made. Purchasers of the Tesla were so use to creep mode in an automatic car that Tesla pushed out an update that allowed them to creep.

F10 M5 is a great car as it. Hearing the exhaust is one reason one might want to mash the pedal at a stop.. but the main purpose is so you can launch whenever you want to without using LC. And on the other end of things.. creep mode is a pita. It's the one reason why I loved my m5 so much.. it felt just like a manual. Not anymore.
That's a crazy story about tesla. I wish BMW could push an update to change creep mode. Actually.. It would be awesome to have a button that enables and disables creep mode.. similar to the auto start/stop.

Why not just flip to neutral for your throttle tapping kicks?
The current setup allows the best of all worlds - if you don't mind using the gear lever.
