Post 601s or 343 Wheels?

I am not sure I have time to change my order, but I am loosing sleep over this. Ordered Singapore Grey with Comp pkg/601 wheels, and I am having second thoughts. If you say 343s regular or black?

I've got singapore grey and had my 343m wheels poweder coated gloss black. then I found out that bmw started offering up the 343 wheels in black, but it was too late as my car was in the middle of the ocean.
A couple pics of mine.

I have seen the 601's on a M6 gran coupe and they did look better in person than in pics. I still like the 343's though...

I think (in pictures) is the biggest problem for the 601 wheel. Most people say in person they look really good. Then on the other hand the 343's scream M car and have a organic flow with the design DNA. I am torn at these amazing pictures are making it worse.

When I call the tracking number it says: Pulled for production, but no production date? Does that mean I am too late anyway?

You might still be able to change but you probably have to decide quick.

I was originally going to go with the 343s, but then I saw the 601s and they really look amazing in person! So I'll be ordering later this week with the 601s on my Singapore Gray CP.

My bias is that I like the 601s better, so I bought them. After having them for four months, I am even more convinced I made the right choice -- short of and $8K set of aftermarket wheels, these are the one visible thing that sets this car off as different from any other 5 body at any viewing distance. Given the color on the 601s, I think they would be the best looking wheels to put on SG.

The 343s are very nice, dont get me wrong, but they are available on 4 different BMW cars, and there are very similar 5 spoke designs on even more models of BMW -- The 601 is on the M5/6 CPs only -- meaning its not a wheel design seen that often. I dont notice the extra weight of the cast wheel, but not having owned a car with 343s ignorance is bliss.

As for the powder coating, I think black wheels definitely will give you more attention, but what is the full look you are going for? I like the black wheels on white/grey/SS because it provides contrast. On the dark colors, MCB, sing grey, etc. if you go black wheels then I would go the full murdered-out route, which at presetn is a bit problematic. To me, nothing looks worse than full black/ferric colored wheels with chrome grills, door handles, side vents, etc - it sends a mixed message to the viewers eye. Right now the problem with 14's is that there is no availability of black chrome accents, and only limited options/availability on blacking out door handles and front grills.

Too much logic here, ok you sold me on the 601s! I am going to keep my order as is. I really like having a wheel special to the M5. So many companies use the "trickle down" process with their models, and it drives me nuts. Although I can't complain, we are probable going to order my wife a X5d with the M sport pkg

Wow…… looking at the poll results, you can see this is a tough choice for all of us. There does not seem to be a clear favorite among us lol.

Lots of good points here. I have the 601s and think they look great in person and there is the element of them being more "special". They are being shod with my winter rubber (Pirelli Sottozeros) and when spring comes, I will likely pull the trigger on some HREs or BBSs for my summer set up. I am thinking that I might try powercoating the 601s in a gunmetal finish while they are off the car in the summer. Also agree with B-1 in that the chrome will need to go. All I have left to addres is the door handles.

Hopefully these pics will reassure you of your decision to go with the 601s. I was torn myself and was about to order a custom build with the 343's until I found a 2 day old car sitting at one of the dealers in the area. It had everything I wanted minus the wheels (601s on them). In person they look STELLAR! I've had more people compliment me on the wheels and many thought they were after market. It works really well on dark colored cars although I will argue that it does not on the individual matte colors. The competition package promo video doesn't do it justice, with the matte blue, and it looked hideous. That was the main reason why I wanted the 343's so bad until I saw it in person. For those of you who say that it looks better in person and not in photos, I disagree.

Here is a collection of photos I've taken of my 2014 M5 Singapore Grey CP with 601s.
