I remember there was already a thread about this, but CA requires front bumpers so a lot of dealerships here already have them installed for you when you pick up your car.

NY has the same law but i specifically told them when I ordered if there is a front plate frame on I will not pick up the car. Thank god they listened.

actually.. the law is identification no higher than 60 inches above the ground in the front. I keep all my new car reg on my front windshield through the time I keep my cars. This is confirmed as legit by a couple of friends who are CHP officers.

I bought my M in OC and was delivered without front plate. Unfortunately, LA deliveries usually have the plates preinstalled.

Not always true... mine wasnt and its not a county thing its a dealer liability thing coupled with the state. I signed a doc stating I was authorizing delivery without the plates mounted.

But I have seen a few M5's at Shelly and other OC locations that indeed had paper plates mounted. I guess you have to get to the car prior to the pdi being conducted and it depends on the dealer and what their internal rules are.
