worth bearing in mind that traction control systems can't change the laws of physics!

V interesting thread - particularly timely read, as I pick up my F10 M5 tomorrow. Suffice to say, I wont be going near MDM for a long time !

Liked the description of MDM as the "Dukes of Hazard" button

Good plan. I've heard too many stories of M5s wrecked within a few miles of the dealership. It's not just learning how the power comes on. New tires need to be "scrubbed in" for a few hundred miles to get proper traction.

Sidebar - in high school I watched a guy pick up his brand new Viper and proceed to spin out pulling out of the dealership. He ended up straddling the median with the driver's side wheels and suspension badly damaged. Something like 6 miles on the car!

I have the euro MDM coded and it's a ton of fun but you need to learn and understand your vehicle before trying to hit the throttle coming out of the corner. Too many variables that are not within your control.

I've been driving 700+ HP cars for a long time so I've learned a long time ago what I can and cannot do.

LOL...... Having span an M3, Caterham, 911, 355, Clio Cup,F Ford & F Renault whilst trying to find the limits on trackdays (I did go on to set fastest laps - honest), I am not going anywhere near that level on public roads!

So the euro MDM is better than the US MDM?? I was wondering why everyone is talking about MDM mode being wild.. you get a little tire spin here and there. IMO its pretty tame, the remaining nannies still on during MDM really keep you from sliding the back around.

Euro MDM isn't able to be coded into the F10 M5 like we had on the E9X M3 series.

It was just a little less of a nanny, but the MDM on the M3's was much more intrusive than the MDM on the F10/12 M's

Euro MDM coded on the F10 is less intrusive I guess you can say. It lets the tires slip more before kicking in. With US MDM, it would kick on almost immediately with minimal tire spin and reduce power. Now not so much. Able to take off the line and it grips before it kicks on.

guys no tcs system can overcome physics, we have a 4200+lb car, you give it some throttle in a turn and get it sliding the tcs system can't make the momentum just disappear.

I was told (maybe erroneously?) that Euro MDM wasn't available on our F10's like I had on my E90 M3...even asked the guy who coded my car (Alex from Alpine). Hell, I was going to have him do it if it were an option. lol!

I had an E60 M5 and coded euro mdm on it, major difference from stock. I would drive with DSC off 80% of the time and mdm for the rest (Rain / Snow).

Normal mdm barely let you do anything. Euro mdm was great for the E60. Perfect balance, I never got sideways with it.

If I were to compare the three modes and DSC off is 10/10:

- E60 mdm (2/10)
- E60 euro mdm (5/10)
- F10 mdm (7.5/10)

Find another guy. The guy I work with has been able to code it. I spoke to another cider and he said it's available.

lol....a few times !! Plus Thruxton & Brands !!

Managed to get the F10 M5 a little sideways (using the programmed M2, which is all on Sport +, with comfort steering & traction on) in the first 70 miles, but it felt very predictable. Will not be on traction off for foreseeable future... its a beast !

Lovely car and has exceeded my expectations !
