Can you use 400mm rotors in the rear?

I see vendors on fleabay selling 400x36mm rotors for the rear. I pulled the string to see where it takes me and after giving my vin, they replied to me that it does fit. That's 1/2-inch difference, no? Rear rotors are 396x24mm. Wanted to know if this can be done or not. Thank you in advance.

Likely not, just stick with the 296's.

Wondering as they are offered at FCP Euro and states as compatible for the F10 M5 rear.

Is it the SHW rears you're looking at? I see that on FCP (and elsewhere) it shows the rotor as 400x36, but that can't possibly be accurate. A 36mm wide rotor wouldn't even fit in between the caliper bracket. My assumption is SHW messed up in their inventory description and every reseller has just gone with that. If you look at the picture of the rotor it is clearly not 36mm thick.

It looks like is stamped as 400x36mm, but I like your theory.

What picture are you looking at? I just looked at two separate pictures of BRR48181 and it shows minimum thickness as 22.4mm, which is correct for the 396x24mm rear rotor.
