EBC Bluestuff - any recent reviews?

Hi,

So I’m going to take my car to Spa and the Nurgburing later this year and wanted a more “track” focused pad that was up to the drive there then some track action. I’m happy with the OEM pads for street use but did notice some fade at Silverstone last year.

I see so many mixed reviews on the bluestuff but lots of the reviews are really old and seemingly the pad material changes over time hence my post.

Anyone run these pads currently or recently? If so what were they like?

I've never had any positive experiences with anything from EBC, including Bluestuff. However, I will admit the Bluestuff pads I had were about 6 or 7 years ago and were fitted to the back of my E46 M3. They literally disintegrated and fell to pieces.

I can highly recommend Pagid RSL29's for the F10 M5. Not cheap, but they work!

I’ve been running ebc yellow stuff on my m5 for the past year and on my e46 and I haven’t had any complaints. So far I’m a fan of their brakes.

Any track work or just road / street driving?

I’ve used Carbotech, Pagid, Endless and EBC on multiple vehicles for track day use, and can recommend the first three but not EBC. Despite their claims they don’t hold up to repeated track use, had multiple sets of blue stuff/yellow stuff pads crack fall apart after a track day. Carbotechs can be more affordable if you can find them but Pagid and Endless seem to be more available and both are top tier options.

Never ran EBC in cars, only bikes, they were very good on two wheels. For track cars I've also used Hawk pads with great results.

Ended up getting a set of endless MX72’s ready for a lap or two round the Nurburgring and a track day at Spa Francorchamps so hopefully they’ll hold up! Thanks for all your replies, much appreciated!

Let us know how the MX72s hold up. I done 2 lap of the ring with EBC Bluestuff and they faded quite badly on the 2nd lap...

Well I'm back from my trip now and I have to say the difference in these pads from OEM is pretty big. I did also change the brake fluid to ATE Type 200 at the same time (but don't do that, use Castrol SRF or Motul in heinsight).

They are definitely worse then stock when stone cold but as soon as you get a tiny bit of heat in them they're fine on the road. I find it's normally the first time you pull the car up to a stop I notice I have to use a bit more force on the pedal then with the stock pads but then I'm good from there on in.

They didn't fade at any point nor did I feel as though they were going let me down whilst at the ring or at Spa... Although I must admit I didn't lean on them as hard as I could of because typically it rained at the ring but started to dry out by second lap and at Spa I found myself constantly moving out the way of pesky GT3 RS's!

I can categorically say though they're better then stock when they get hot and so far I haven't experienced any brake squeal either except for a tiny bit in reverse strangely but nothing I'm remotely bothered about.

I'd definitely recommend them though, not cheap but seem decent so far. For clarity I've now done about 1100 miles or so on them.

How is the dust vs stock?

I’d love to give you a definite answer but the truth is I’m not actually sure.

Basically I enjoy driving my car, and it gets cleaned way less then it deserves so I can’t actually remember how much dust the OEM pad produced anymore.
