Question Full Individual - Having Difficulty Placing Order

I just completed my order for a 2014 M5, and have a production number. I'm getting the Nutmeg interior, and would like to get the full leather parts added on (upper dash, door upper-arm) as others have before. My dealership was unfamiliar with this request, and spoke with some regional person who said it can't be done. I just finished speaking with a BMW NA rep on the phone who also couldn't give me any answers.

Can someone please give me a contact, number, or direction on how to properly order this option? Thanks.

Your dealer just needs to call the BMW NA sales order desk , they need to approve the individual order .
The option code for full/extended individual leather is Z1XX , cost is ~1800$ on top of the cost for Individual leather

JMH nailed it. Also if you want anything else like contrast stitching, ask for a combined quote. It's more cost effective that way.

BTW - If your production slot is less than 12 weeks out, be prepared for the possibility that your production slot to change. Individual models have their interiors fitted at BMW M Individual, so two sepearate production slots have to be scheduled. Usually the Individual slot timing determines the Dingolfing production slot because they don't want incomplete inventory hanging around.

jmh and stealth,

Thank you for the helpful replies. I'll present this information to my dealership tomorrow. Hopefully it resolves the issue.

Regarding the Individual delay, I believe that to be my case. When finalizing the order today, it was semi-rejected in their original allocation week of production. I'm supposed to hear back from them soon regarding the final verdict. No worries - I've been wanting an M5 for years; a little extra wait to get the build I want is no biggie.

There's a waiting list to accept an Individual order. What happens is this:
- Provisional Date
- Order picked up by Individual and checked against available schedule (in my case it took them 3 weeks just to do this from the date order was placed).
- If schedule works for original date then confirmed
- If schedule doesn't work then they will propose a new date
- You have a couple of days to accept the date
- Once accepted order is locked in and cannot be changed

Update:

Talked to my dealership today and provided them with the information. They've apparently not done many (if any) individual orders, so the extra step in scheduling production is new for them. They're now going to attempt to contact the appropriate persons today, but believe they may not be reachable until Monday.

UPDATE:

I spoke with my dealership's Sales Manager today to get an update. I had given them all of the information you all have provided, and the person (not sure their title) they go through keeps telling them it can't be ordered this way. I'm a little frustrated.

So, jmh, stealth, or anyone else who's ordered this option... could you perhaps PM me with your dealership salesperson, or local dealership contact that ordered this option for your vehicle? I would like to provide it to my dealership to put this to rest. If not, I seek additional recommendations.

Out of curiosity what deal have you negotiated relative to MSRP? I'm wondering if it makes sense to order from one of the well known Forum sponsor dealers and have it delivered in Greenville SC or Atlanta GA. You may get better price and a dealer who has done this many times before.

$1500 over invoice. I considered using a sponsor dealer earlier, however aside from this hiccup, everything's been smooth with my local dealer. I don't consider this a major issue, but of course want it fixed.

Where are you finding "invoice" pricing? I saw the 2014 MSRP pricing posted not too long ago, but could not find invoice pricing?

I am looking at placing an order for a competition package ED 2014 M5 in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks

I actually haven't seen the invoice sheet anywhere, yet. When negotiating, I just went by [invoice] + XXXX$. Upon delivery, I will definitely want to know what invoice actually is, to ensure they're truly sticking with the terms. Overall, I was content given it being a brand new production LCI allocation.

Okay well the forum dealers are the ones who know how to do this.

What your dealer needs to do is email his regional distribution manager (from BMW USA) and ask to submit a special order for a Full Leather Individual interior. The request to the regional distribution manager should be specific what you want. You can mention Z1XX. They can figure out the rest.

The regional distribution manager will then provide a quote. If agreed the dealer principal must sign a form agreeing to place the order because the dealer is responsible for taking the car once it is made. They often require a non-ref deposit to cover that risk.

Still blows my mind that full individual leather is a special order. Mine added a month to my build.
