Evolve Stage 2 1/4 Mile 11.49 at 129 MPH on Street Tyres

After many airstrip runs on Saturday I made it to the Drag Strip on Sunday morning to do a few runs.

Car specification:

F10 M5, Evolve Downpipes, Eventuri Intakes, Evolve Stage 2 ECU, 93 Octane,
Street Tyres (MPSS in stock sizes)

11.49 at 129 MPH

Definitely a low 11 with stock tyres achievable with a better 60 ft time. I was struggling for traction.

Aiming to go again later this month with some drag radials.

Nice.

I'd say with drag radials you are in the 10's for sure. Drags should knock about 0.3 sec off your 60' and drop your 1/4 time about 0.4-0.6.

What was the time between runs? Looks like you got a little heat soaked after the first 5 runs. About what I have found, no sense bagging on the car after 4-5 runs.

Thanks!

The first 5 runs were within 5 minutes of each other as the track was quiet. The later ones were 20 mins apart but I was trying different launches hence the timing differences. I have an Awron guage and was monitoring the IAT and they went up slightly with the increase in ambient temperature.

I agree with Northern on the tires and reaction time. Trap speed indicators show the potential.

I'm heading back to the track on 25th October with some different tyres so hopefully get into the 10's.

Check out the videos if you haven't already….

the reaction time is meaning less here, the clock doesn't start until the car moves. you can just sit there after the light goes green and nothing happens. Reaction Time only matters when racing side by side

Any idea for when the tune for the F-10 will be available-just went on the website and did not see it mentioned.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill

Nice to see you here. :-)

It is available in the UK at the moment as we require the ECU's.

We have just finished training our dealer in NY to do these and he will be set up to flash them in a few weeks.

OBD tuning will happen at some point but unable to say when this would be.

Yes but it had been raining the previous day and even though they tried to try it out could not get enough traction so my 60 ft. times were worse than before.

BTW I couldn't get drag radials over here in time so I used some Pirelli Trofeo R's which improved my 60-130 MPH time by 0.3 seconds so its now 6.7 seconds. Pleased with that as current mods are only: Evolve Downpipes, Eventuri Intake and Evolve ECU Tune on 93 Octane.

Imran, any reason not to use LC on a 1/4 mile? The DCT won't like it with the extra power or?

LC sucks. Yeah we are leaving a bit on the table by not stalling to 2000-2500RPM. The default setting is 3500 which is a bit too much, it is too much stock car/stock tires. And is definately too much RPM for a modified car even on drag radials. When chasing the elusive fastest ET you cannot blow the 60 foot. 60 foot is not as important when you consider trap speed though.

I guess on a prepped track it should be worth it? I mean a lot more powerful cars are using LC on 1/4 mile drag strips, so it shouldn't be worthless to say the least?

Other cars probably have a better system of modulating the power so that the tires won't break traction regardless of the surface type. The reasoning behind LC is for the computer to do all the heavy lifting so that you get an idiot proof perfect launch. I've run LC on a prepped track. Just get a bunch of wheel hop. I haven't bothered to run it with drag radials yet.
