Exhaust no Crossover pipe

So, been thinking for a while. Anyone tried a pipe with no X or H crossover? I wonder how it would sound. I know in theory it might make less power due to increased back pressure (potentially) but looking at the GTR-R35 V6 exhaust setup, they join both banks together for the length of the car then separate them again for the tail pipes for that awesome screaming exhaust note with what seems like little or no power loss.

I wondered how the M5 would sound with a pipe per bank? I know the GTR sound is from joining all 6 cylinders together in one pipe and the M5 would be 2 separate 4 cylinders. Might just sound rubbish, just wondered if anyone has tried it?

Everyone has the V8 rumble. I fancy something a bit different.

Now that that platform is almost 6 yeas old, I can let everyone in on a little secret. The RPi exhaust systems for the F10 M5 and F12/13 M6 were all originally designed with a fake X-Pipe design. Meaning just as you stated, the exhaust flow is kept separate for each side of the exhaust and don't mix like a traditional X-Pipe. This is partly what gives the RPi exhaust it's unique sound. You can hear the RPi sound clearly in my video that I made many years ago.

You should call RPi today and order one if you really like the sound. I know, I do. Been running it for over 5 years now.
