Very happy with my ECS kit. Don't know about the others. Took less than an hour to install. Had some extra bulbs left over.

Color Prob around 3-3200k and lum =brighter =) I have had them installed for a year with no errors or issues.

I just installed. Super quick and easy. Instructions on ECS website great. LEDs look so much better.

First mod complete.

I just installed the ECS kit. First impression is that it feels very bright compared to the OEM incandescents. I think this effect is compounded by the Silverstone interior, however it may a cooler light vs warmer light thing rather than an actual increase in lumens.
I find the dome light to be especially bright when entering the car.

The look is certainly more modern and pulls together with the door handles well. If I could tone them down 2 notches in brightness, they would be perfect.

Install was about an hour, as I took my time ... especially with the front dome. As others mentioned, this required some doing.
I would highly recommend disconnecting the bulb housing from the wiring harness before exchanging bulbs. This will prevent a blown fuse from an inadvertent short.

To all that have done the ECS kit:

I am very mechanically inclined (have rebuilt engines, etc.). That said, I do want to hear a little more about which bulbs are giving people a hard time... I'm not near my car as I type this, so I'm not looking at it, but I'm assuming domes? I would think most are a snap. What bulbs are taking a "trim tool"?

It won't be difficult for you at all considering your skills.

All you need is a trim tool or something similar to pry the housings loose. I would also recommend wearing gloves to protect your lining and also to shield you from the heat of the door, trunk, and glovebox lights. Those suckers will be hot.

The trick to the front dome light is compressing the metal spring clips while pulling down. This takes a bit of finesse and also some force. Not wanting to tear up my car, I didn't use enough force at first until I figured out the mechanism.
You have to first release the front two clips. You will know by having about a quarter inch gap between housing and ceiling. Then you have to remove the inner trim plate by prying loose. This will expose the holes where you can insert a screwdriver to release the two side spring clips. This is outlined in the instructions, but the sequence is vague.

Once all 4 clips are released, the entire housing can be popped loose and will hang down on wiring harness. This will take a bit of force, more than I initially was giving.

The rest of the install was very straightforward.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

I did more of a mix/match set up.. for domes used wedge bulbs (194's) of my choice.. you have two main domes and each dome has two reading lights.. doors have 4 puddles.. wedges also but i went with bimmian lights on these.. complete replacement with SMD panel very nice pure white light.. for footwell the replacement housings did not work as the plug is different.. not just a two wire.. at least on '15 model they are LED from factory.. soft white with amber which stay on during night.. (similar to amber dome light factory on nearly all BMW models). For footwells I opted to insert a wedge bulb directly into OEM socket and use OEM housing :-) This way i can put them back to stock in a heartbeat..

For the trunk, i did LED light bar as no matter what festoon or wedge you put in there its not enough light and i wanted day time :-)

I've had mine for 7 months no issues so far..

This is probably slightly OT but I couldn't find a thread exactly.

I got my M5 European delivered. I totally swear I was able to change the color LEDs (ones in the doors, buttons, etc.) to more than just "Modern" and "Classic" while in Germany. It was done in the iDrive Settings -> Lighting menu. Am I remembering wrong or is the NA software somehow more restricted?

Does the 2016 F10 M5 not have OEM LEDs in the interior? is it actually the old yellowish bulbs still?

to both posts above yes.. F10 M5 is pre-historic regarding interior LED lighting.. the only OEM LED that i saw on my loaded '15 CP model was in the footwell.. keep in mind its softwhite (which has yellowish hue) which most people will not realize are LED unless you take apart the housing.. look up my thread on footwell and you will see what i'm referring to..

all other interior bulbs are basic wedge type bulbs or better known as 194.. all halogen.. including doors, domes, reading map lights etc..

the only LED avail on F10 is actual headlights.. including turn signals and rear LED tails, along with license plate lights.. rest you need to modify yourself if you want LED..

I had to do it as it just looks like plain shit.. especially in comparison to my 2015 Escalade which has LED lighting all around.. (they missed license plate light) but that's a 30 second fix :-)

Interior Rear Console Removal for 2014 M5

Realize I'm way late to this thread but taking a shot anyway.

I'm hoping someone knows how to remove the rear interior console for 2014 models. Mine appears to have a different interior rear console than is shown in some DIY videos.

Mine looks like this: https://ibb.co/YD1TVq3

Whereas most others I've found online look like this: https://ibb.co/rfnMQDp

If anyone out there knows how to remove the one that is in my 2014 car & can share their knowledge, I'd be most grateful.

I've tried just following the same pressure release points seen in this video below that has the other rear console version, but I heard a loud crack and some plastic bits rattling around, so I stopped.
