It will fit fine. I ran that size on a Nitto 555R. Only issue is that tire is much taller than stock and will occasionally give you some part throttle shift and hesitation issues. All minor once you learn to expect it. WOT is fine.
A MT drag radial will have a lot more grip than a CUP 2. The MT won't have the lateral wall stability of a CUP 2. So no mountain road carving. A MT is DOT legal but it is a bit more sketchy than the CUP 2 under wet conditions. I think if you are running stock-ish power, don't intend to drag race and you are only looking for a little extra grip on the road then go with a Toyo R888. CUP2 and MT are a bit more extreme and you give up some daily driving convenience.

I don't have direct comparison with toyo r88. I do have experience with both MT and SC2. Just as you e heard above. MT is all straight line grip and imho the best at that one dimension. SC2 is big improvement over stock PSS. If you are going to the drag strip or street race your M5 from stop lights, MT is what I'd buy. If you are going to track your car at auto cross or road course, SC2 is the way I'd go. Even for most street "tests of acceleration" the SC2 will be preferred, particularly when you need to brake hard and swerve to miss the object you thought was not in your way.
Or you can do like me and get an extra set of rear wheels and have both! 😎 |
