Arizona Folks Chime in...
I might be moving to AZ from Germany. How expensive are the annual Vehicle taxes? It's a 2014 CP US Spec M5. I bought used, and it's never been registered in the US.( BMW Military Car Sales)...I'm not Active Military anymore though. I've looked at the calculators, but that only leaves me guessing...
What are you guys paying annually? |

Hey Fast400. So, in Arizona your annual license plate renewal fee is calculated on a formula of the Base retail price.
Basically, they take 60% of the Base Retail price and then the tax is $2.80 per $100. So, a new car with a Base Retail Price of $60,000 would be as follows: Base Retail Price: 60,000 60% Assessed Value: 36,000 $2.80 per $100: 1,008 Title Fee: 4.00 Registration Fee: 8.00 Air Quality Fee: 1.50 Total Tags: $1,021.50 Now, when it comes to used cars the base retail price is reduced by 16.25% for each year since the vehicle was registered. I am not sure how this works with a car that was never registered in the US though. I think when I had my '14 M5 the first year tags were around 1,300 to 1400, but I can't remember.

Thanks! I'm glad they're using base MSRP. Mine is loaded with options. So if I did the math right, it would be around $30000 = $840..not terrible I guess...
I'm paying $0 annually here in Germany Most Germans pay based on engine displacement !! |
