I'll reserve my judgments for the red and white interiors

Alantara for inner doors would be great. I think the layout looks fine but the mismatch of colours is noticeable

The interior looks as I expected. Nice but nothing spectacular. The instrument cluster looks super though.
I agree with the Mercedes comparison. Some materials there (plastics to be more specific) don't look so good. I have just seen a M Sport F10 in the showroom and it resembles a lot.

I really look forward to seeing the final production. This will be a fabulous M!

It's there, look at the seat insert- it looks different than the rest because it is indeed alcantara.

Hopefully the arrow helps......

The e92 coupe has long ambient light on the door, it would be absurd for the F10 M5 not to have a similar ambient light...

You all fell for it? Really?

This is a half-baked interior that was probably not meant for public consumption, hence the very dark tints on the windows of the concept M5...

Pictures of prototypes in testing have shown that the centre console is unique with a totally different surround for the shifter! I would imagine they will have some kind of carbon type trim too like the M3 once it hits production!

Speedo is in 30 kph increments. That is another (BMW and //M) first! Normally they do 20 kph increments.

It looks like BMW is doing what BMW usually does, no surprises here - well to me at least.
Agreed. History demonstrates M interiors follow their less potent variants closely with a few trim tweaks like:

1. M illuminated door sills
2. M-specific trim option (like the carbon leather option)
3. M wheel (with M button)
4. M badges galore (on the e92 they are embossed on the seat, on the shifter, on the tach, and on the steering wheel).
5. M only options make a little difference too - like the dct shifter, the EDC/Power/Traction button cluster, etc.

Two comments on the spy shot -
No M badge on the bottom of the steering wheel
No key input - does that mean all M5s come with convenience package or comfort access or did the F10 move the key input spot?

on the second picture below the indicator stalk there is a >KEY< (Key symbol) maybe this is where one holds the key as they press to start?
or it could just be a prototype feature that alows test drivers wearing specific wristbands to start the car (Similar to UPS)

Some of what we see here is production intent, sure, but it is mixed in with a hodge podge of stuff from the parts bin so I would not put too much stock in what you see as far as materials, textures, colors, etc.

But what's with the key icon on the side of the steering wheel bezel? Is that how the F10 5 series is as well? I admit I am not too familiar with the interior of that car. I don't see where you can put the key itself. Maybe there is no physical ignition or "key slot" in these cars anymore (CA only)? Guess I need to research that.

I really think that this vehicle will be for true die hard enthusiasts and those who are willing to throw down some $$$ to feel better than all the other BMW owners. In my certain location, I know for a fact that the vast majority will fall into the second category.

shit my 320i is the same as an m3 according to you..

Exactly, and it was the same with the E92 M3 Concept btw which had some random alcantara and CF bits: http://www.bimmerpost.com/images/m34.jpg

E9x M3 has both, 20kph increments up until 120kph and 30kph increments from 120kph on.

This isn't specific to the M5, no F10 model has a key hole. Regardless of whether comfort access is included or not, key in pocket is enough to start the car.

Yep, like I said above. The key icon is in case of this feature failing. If -- due to some error/malfunction -- the car doesn't recognize the keys being somewhere in the cabin you can hold your key to this spot on the steering wheel column and it starts.

Best regards,
south

Is this a joke?

This new E-Class interior looks like a 1989 E-Class Interior.

For comparison, the new E63's interior.

I hope we get some better photos.

U serious??

The M3 looks nothing like the regular production 3series it has:

Flared fenders/quarter panels
Different front/rear bumpers
Powerdome hood with hood vents
M wheels
Different side mirrors
Lowered suspension
M colored interior (fox red)
M tri-color steering wheel
M specific trim (carbon leather)
And not to mention the V8 under the hood

I'll reserve my judgment until I see the production versions, I'm confident it will not disappoint (me at least).

And in reference to the E63 interior...I've never been a fan of Merc interiors but the E63 is pretty damn nice.
