finally figured out another creaking source
i hear it from center of car near the dash and b and o speaker. thought it was speaker, then it sounded like it was from overhead lighting/sunroof assembly. i took both apart, no improvement and did some soundproofing stuff. i'm now pretty sure it's the rearview mirror. the plastic assembly around the mirror is what has been rattling. there's nothing loose, it's just the play between the separate plastic pieces that rattles. the only problem is i don't know what to do about it. any thoughts?

Is that the source? I kept blaming the light housing. Will have to investigate further. Good find!

I have heard that installing the E-race exhaust helps. I may go that route. Good find nonetheless!
