stealership offer 58,000 to buy

Man dealers these days must make a killing. They offered me 58000 for a 2014 bmw m5 with 6000 miles, full leather, CCB , carbon fiber trim and titanium exhaust.
It's a competition pack car in Singapore Gray with Sandstone leather.

Momentum SW in Houston offered me $43K for mine just yesterday...only 31K on the clock.

Needless to say I walked.

$49,500 and 20% off the truck.

That was the highest I found.

BMW offered me $44,000
Audi offered me $46,000

GMC offered me $51,000 back in July.

If the new one doesn't go over well, out cars might just stabilize. I am not about to sell a loaded car with 6000 miles for 58 k. They are not good at convincing me how soft the market is.

It's not the resale value that's the issue,..it's the cost folks are paying at the time the vehicles are new and the expected parts that will fail! I suspect BMW and the dealers are most likely making some $20k and upwards collectively on a new M5! The reason that dealer listed it at $90K is for several reasons and one of them is,..to see what the market will bare! If some Joe walks in and pays $88K for an M car with 9k on the clock, they will be more than happy to sign him/her up. And that same Joe will be shocked in 2 years time,...as his $88k purchase gets appraised in the high 30's,..that's is, if the car has considerably less than 50k miles on it. He will be just as shocked as the new car buyer of an M5,..or any M car for that matter. Or even any new car for that matter. In addition, BMW also has "warranty" factored in as well (this we know already. They know what parts will likely need to be replaced withinthe first 50k miles of a 500+ Hp. Therefore, the new car buyer pays BMW NA upfront for peace of mind as the price of that M car includes a healthy no questions asked B to B warranty! Just as it freak'n should.

I get what you are saying but they do that on all cars. Even Japanese cars. I'll just list it for sale myself and see where the market is at. There are very few if any low mileage comp pack cars in my area. The dealership will be the first to call offering me some low price and I'll get to tell them I'm not a wholesaler.

Retail is $80000 so 30k of profit. Not bad for a days work.

I like how they claim there is no markup for carbon ceramic brakes or titanium exhaust. I'll list it at 88 and see what happens.

Before I picked up my M2...I considered selling my loaded M5 2013 with 52K miles...Carlow, I mean Carmax offered 44K...with a probable 10K profit window....it just did not make sense for one reason...I bought the extended service, tire and engine plans...I have another 2 1/2 years to worry free...so if you did get the extended warrantees you should keep your 6K mile car for another 4years worry free it just makes sense.

However, if you don't drive the car, I would sell it now, before the new model hits...there are some major changes which will be a leg up on our models. for me , 53000 miles and repair free driving is impressive..if you have a good thing keep it. The rule of thumb for BMW M is $1 a mile...that is what it going to cost you IF you hold on to it till 99,999..and then sell LOL,

If you sell early its going over that level..on my car it was out the door tax, lic, warrantees about $119,000.00 my project cost recovery goal should be $19000 and bingo its a buck a mile....that is a fair and obtainable goal...however why are you selling...to upgrade to new model or get M2...? or put of BMW all together?

Ok, I understand now where you are coming from....it seems that the price you paid was south of 100K...if you got retail say 75K or so would the loss be bearable and are you gonna have to get a replacement or was this just a weekend ride should be a factor in your decision..good luck...

I bought my M5 to drive as I want to give my 911 TT a break since she is 11 years already. If people dont intend to drive it, that is 10-15k/year depreciation plus the money to pay. I learned it on my first e60 M5. I bought that $110k, then in 1 year, with only 3ooo miles on it, it was selling $80k used. Then I bought my used 911. I traded it how much I bought it the next year and added 3000 miles on it. Sedans do not retain good resale value.

But I really look as it this way. If I use this car and make $xx, this is worth it. If it sits in the garage, then it does not make sense. I have other cars to do that.

Not much better here in Canada. I traded in my 12' M5 full load for 55k which is 7k less than the Canadian Blackbook value and dealer said the info I saw did not refer to the current market value. Few days after, they listed my car for $74k and sold it quickly.

Earlier this month, I inquired to trade in the X5 I bought last year from them for something different and they again offered 9k less than what the blackbook shows the trade in value is. I get it, it's all about business and they need to make money. However, over the years, dealers got more greedy every year and I am sick of being treated like an idiot.

Let's just say for now, this X5 will be my last BMW, why, when I traded in my 12' 997.2, I only lost 4K after driving the car for 13 months. That proves enough that BMW dealers don't give a shxt about their long time repeated customers.
