Improve exhaust sound

Stock f10 m5... I actually like the stock exhaust. But sometimes I get bored and wonder what can I do to the car to make it more fun lol so I've been researching exhausts. Meisterchaft seems to attract me. I've had a borla before on my Volkswagen gti. Another option would be to keep stock exhaust, and add an after market downpipe. I've heard
That's the best "bang for your buck" mod. Thoughts?

I'd agree to start with the downpipes and work your way up from there.

The Downpipes will increase your stock exhaust sound quite a bit and it could satisfy your ears while also giving you some performance gains.

With downpipes I do recommend getting a flash tune to eliminate the CEL, increased performance, and remove be top speed limiter.

If tune is not an option, JB4 would be my second option.

I haven't seen under the F10 yet, but wouldn't a simpler approach be to swap out resonators for a less restrictive pair and/or delete them altogether?

I just put the AWE Tuning Performance Exhaust (axel back) on Monday. Its not obnoxiously loud. No drone at cruising speeds, but when when you get on the gas, it sounds pretty sweet. As others will tell you, once you disable the Active Sound, you'll realize how quiet the interior is because of the sound dampening. I haven't hear any others in person but I'm sure they all sound pretty good. The issue is that everything for this car comes with a nice "M Tax" so I tried not to go nuts for better sound because I really don't need more power...

Doesn't change it that much.

I went with DP's, stock resonators, and Eisenmann Sport. I haven't gotten around to installing them, but when I do I will post a video.

I currently have Turner muffler delete with everything else stock. I'm really satisfied with the tone and volume, but I wanted to go downpipes and those would be too loud for the Turners

How do I delete the active sound?

Unplug the unit in the boot or pull fuse or code it out.

I have to say, if you didn't tell me the sound was fake, I'd never know. Now my cabin is quiet and what I hear is the real sound of the exhaust when I get on the gas, but I wish what I heard in the cabin with Active Sound was real sound. Maybe another exhaust or DP's would give me that sound on the inside, but it's definitely a well insulated cabin in terms of outside noise...

Check out our Muffler Bypass Exhaust! It's a quick simple modification that really changes the attitude of the car.

Is it possible to purchase just the rear section of that? From the last set of clamps back? I'm pondering a delete of the mufflers, but adding resonators.

The more I listen to the stock exhaust... sort of makes me realize I don't really need one. The stock one sounds great with those cool "poppy" sounds lol

Muffler delete will make them louder and more pronounced. Catless and tune will make it a head turner !

Keep in mind the Fabspeed inner pipe will get the most flow and turn black much, much faster than the outer pipe. This unfortunately makes it look like you just have 2 pipes from the back of the car, as the outers will be shiny inside while the inners are black. Poor design IMO.

^^^but is it a hed turner for the right reason? I had a loud exhaust on my E60 M5, everyone used to look round then try and see the lambo or ferrari BEHIND the saloon blocking their view then just had look of KNOB all over their face lasted a couple of months then went back to stock as I got feed up with comments like 'has the exhaust fallen off' or 'whats wrong with your car' and the ment it!

Our systems are designed to produce the most performance possible while reducing the amount of drone. The placement of the secondary Y-outlet for the tip was actually proven to minimize the amount of drone from deleting the muffler.
