Fair Price for an M5 with These Options?
Title says it all. I'm curious based on how the market has been lately and your observations as buyers--what do you folks feel like a car with these specifications should sell for to a consumer?
2014 BMW M5 21,040 miles Build date 7/2013 Clean Carfax, 1 owner Texas car--leased, serviced, and returned to the same dealer, resold from same dealer. Maintenence records intact, all services done according to schedule. Michelin Pilot Super Sports have good life (good enough to pass CPO inspection) Certified Pre-Owned until 2/2020

I'll bet, you can't find one 14, 20k mileage range with all options including ccb with cpo across the country for 63-65k retail. |

I just bought a similarly equipped car. I offered upper 60s for a month and they wouldn't bite. I've seen cars with much less options and not CPO sell for low-mid 60s. Options may not bring extra money but they make or break it. E.g. cars without exec package are much much less and don't sell.
That car is definitely worth 69k to me. |

if the margin is close, then yes i would. but cc and comp are stupid, i wouldn't pay up for it. (I have no use for them) so all of you CC guys, don't get butthurt. and i have comp btw. the most important package to me is exec |

I also agree with the executive as it is most important to me.The comp is nice but not a requirement to me but to many people it is. |

CCB is definitely not needed or even wanted in most cases (but i wanted it because i wanted to try em and it is now one of my favorite options). I don't intend on any performance mods so comp was on my must have list (warranty is important to me). In the end, it's another toy and I wanted as much as I could get; it is an M5 afterall.

I'll put it this way. If you pay 69+ for it. The minute you drive the lot with it you won't get more than 63k for it including any one of these jokers saying it's worth 70k+ to them. There are a ton of cars just like the one you listed for sale and very few buyers. Use that to your advantage - the person selling the car is always at the disadvantage.

someone gets it..... I think alot of folks who buy these kinds of cars are so mis-informed, its comical. The prices on m5's have literally been going down, at an astronomical rate over the past few months. There is no reason to "pay up" for anything right now. Learn to use the (terrible) market as leverage. |

Can you show me a few ads? I haven't seen any similarly equipped CPO cars for low 60s. I've only seen one with over 30k miles and no where near the same options.

You paid a premium for the CCB
5-6k ADDITIONAL to sell price I haven't seen any on east coast with CCB yet However seen CP at low 60 without CCB and all other options Under 30k miles a few. Some under 12k miles for mid 60s and CPO |

I feel like no matter the options, whether you assign a value to CCB/CP that makes it worth a few extra thousand or not, in the end if you buy a CPO M5 from a BMW dealer right now, you're losing $5-10k right away thanks to the terrible auction and trade-in money these cars are getting right now.
All that being said, if you're going to take that kind of leap and buy your "perfectly optioned car", I would imagine you would intend on keeping the far for a few years...enough years that you will still own the car as it transitions from the factory warranty to the Certified warranty, and then an extra year or two on top of that at least. By the end of that, there's no excuse to be upside down in this car. At the end of the day, overpaying for a car is okay as long as you 1: keep the car long enough to spread out the depreciation and 2: you're happy with the car. By the way, the car I'm mentioning here is the car I'm transitioning in to as part of my dealer-assisted trade. It was listed at $70k. No idea how the numbers are going to turn out.
