Beware of Seller Barone///M

I inquired about this seller's tune today. We exchanged more than 15 PM's. When I sent him my last question he said that he had received an offer for $400 but was offering it to me for $450. I told him that I would give him $425 and he said "Deal" and provided me his PayPal address to send money. He then contacts me to tell me that he sold it to the first guy for the same amount. Unethical Seller. If he was accepting offers then he should never have contacted me and told me that he would take my offer. Buyer beware with this member..

Thankfully I didn't pay him. After he told me it was mine and sent me his PayPal email I went to my computer to pay him. As I was logging into PayPal he messaged me telling me he sold it to someone else.

It's just as well. I spoke to another member who bought the same tune from this seller and it did $2500 in damage to his engine.

The point of the thread has nothing to really do with the type of tune or quality of the tune.

Rather the fact that the seller told me he was selling to me and requested payment. He then tells me within 5 minutes that he sold to someone else.

I only found out later that the tune was sold to another member and it caused extensive damage.

The point here is to let the forum know not to buy anything from this seller.

How would a tune cause extensive damage? I only ask because I'm not sure how that would happen with a plug and play set-up.

Okay, I'll take note of that for Barone///M and make sure to question him if I ever do business with him.

Now, tell us more about this $425 tune. What was it?

Well in private sales this happens all the time and I've personally experienced this many times over the years. Sometimes other people are willing to pay more than advertised or something along those lines. As long as no money was exchange or u were refunded its not the end of the world. Now if he took your money and u didn't get anything then I can understand letting other forum members know beforehand.

Wonder what would happen if the transaction goes through and u slap the $425 tune on your car.

Maybe it was meant to be not your car to not get screwed.

Sour grapes. Happens all the time. Someone paid him faster than you did. No need to trash a guy's name.

Agreed, great price for Dinan. The other member that bought it didn't say his car got screwed up publicly.

I would be pissed too if I was unknowingly played against another buyer. Disclose the fact it's first come/first serve; I may not be interested in partaking in a bidding war.

Not sure how a tune messes up your car but I imagine it could since it is electronic and works with the DME.

The guy that bought it the first time PM'd me and told me it did the huge damage and he sent it back to the seller. The seller just said it didn't work with the first guys car (it normally doesn't with the competition package). The seller said nothing about it causing damage. He also said if there was any problem that Dinan would fix it.

It is never normal selling behavior to tell someone that they have a deal and to send them money then come back and tell them they sold it to someone else. We are talking about 5-10 minutes between communication....not days.

It was totally meant to be.

I was trying to do the right thing by just letting other members know that this seller doesn't follow normal selling ethics.

If you think this sellers behavior is normal then that explains your comments and you would have ethical issues as a seller too. We are going to agree to disagree. If the situation happened to you, I guarantee you would feel the same. As a seller you don't offer to sell something, agree on a price, say send me money, then come back and say I decided to sell to someone else. What if this was a car you were driving to buy. Would you be ok if you arrive to pick it up and the guy says I sold it to somebody else after you made a deal?

Thank you! You understand.

This is my last comment on this thread. I was simply warning other members here which is exactly what you are supposed to do as a contributing member. I didn't join these forums yesterday and plan to help a lot more over the years. I have 5 BMW's and have been active here and more active in the Bimmerfest site. You don't have to agree with me but I do keep my word when selling or buying.

You definitely have a very valid point, and I can see your frustration. I'd be pissed too if someone committed to sell and backed out.
