Ahhhhhhh I Love.....

The smell of fresh new brake pads front and back and new front rotors on the warranty dime in the morning. Just completed a 6,996 mile round trip from NYC to Los Angeles and back last week and brought the car in for scheduled service. Car has 43000 miles now and warranty and maintenance expire in December. Had a slight shimmy upon braking right before trip and found the rotors out of spec when I got back. Nice to get brakes done under the 4 year , 50000 mile finish line.

I must say sounds like a fun drive. Detector needed ! I never thought of driving so far. How long was the drive to the west coast ?

But back to topic, I actually just changed my brakes on my car. The brake dust kills me ! My rotors were changed 10k miles ago. No signs of use, must admit the oem rotors hold up great.

I have done it twice(Once in my E46 M3 and this time in the M5). Time frame is 4 to 5 days. I am the only driver , so I usually drive Sun up til sun down. Usually 12-16 hours depending on where I want to stop.

I bet the f10 m5 made that trip more enjoyable than being in the e46, comfort and drivability.

4-5 days wow ! I think I can do 24hrs max.

Do you have a clear bra on your car? How did you do with those rockchips?
I have a clear bra on my car and Im glad I do because those rocks tear thru the bra but not the paint.

No clear bra. Got two small little chips down near the brake intake ducts. No biggy. Just heavily waxed the car and kept distances from cars in front when I could. Western half of the country had very little traffic at time. Spent a lot of time being the only car within a mile distance.
