F10 M5 MT shifting

Ive had my F10 for almost 6 months now and I never once thought I made a mistake grabbing it from the dealer.

I just have a question for those with a MT F10, do you experience a little jerk/push when you are about to release the clutch?

Its like you cannot balance the clutch release and gas on 1st and 2nd gear, and after that, you are able to balance it.

I have 3 other MT cars and my M5 is I think the bumpiest to drive.

Anybody with thesame problem?

I have not experienced this jerk/push to which you reference. My '16 M5 shifts are smooth as butter.

Rolling i let clutch grab first gear before hitting gas let it roll. Then 2nd. I ket it grab also

3-6 i drive it.

I've never experienced this. That being said, if your car is relatively low miles (<5K) then maybe the clutch isn't broken in yet? The clutch has to be really strong for 550+ hp in a 4300 lb car.

It is a little jerky if you're not used to it in 1st gear. Just gotta give it enough power

I tried it and tried to adjust seating position and it helped. But I would say I cannot drag race somebody with this tranny.

I drive ECO all the time. I tried to use SPORT and it may had less jerkiness but my gas mileage also went down.

i think it is just the way it is. How different this tranny is from my Pcar TT or Fcar. Love it in the hwy though.

Im at 4900 miles.

I would get it checked out... I very seldom experience the jerkiness and when I do it's my fault for not giving it enough gas. Mine drives pretty much like any other stick I had.

You must have some issue with the clutch.

It's called TORQUE MONSTER lol
You have to get used to it. I had the same issue with M4 MT. Changed seat position and everything with no success... finally figured out the balance between clutch and gas will be achieved at lower position of clutch because of torque... Having said that you need more gas before releasing the clutch compare to other cars...let's say this was: releasing 1 cm clutch you have to depress 2 cm gas ...

My friend was driving my car around today. He couldn't get it smooth at all. lol and he comes from a viper. These m5s are tricky but once you get it then you got it.

But I love this car. In fact, I am crazy enough, I might buy another one.

I was lucky enough to get this with a comp pack with CCB.

Yes, its a 997.2 RS. They only made manuals then.

Nice cars! Try this. Slowly let out the clutch, slow enough not to stall without adding any gas. Do this a few times and find out when the clutch engages. Eventually do it with adding the appropriate amount of gas. Should be smooth as silk

On the older M cars, like the e46 M3, there was a cdv. A clutch delay valve. Removing it allowed for much smoother shifting. It is attached to the clutch line. Maybe try and research if the the f10's have it. If so that will solve it.

You could also try a Mason Engineering clutch pedal too when you do the cdv delete, but again I'm not sure if he makes one for the f10 or if all BMW clutch pedals are the same.

One first gear, I start to release the clutch and I dont even add gas and it would go slow.

I think the problem is the spring in the pedal. There is like a hump that springs back on release which is hard to stop.

Do you guys experience this too?

I think ive read there are people in the e90 m3 guys who removed the return spring and just left the inward spring. Is this possible too?

I observe it further, its like when you start to release the clutch, there is an easy release then all of the sudden, there is depression that the of you are not careful, will suddenly release the clutch.

If I try to release it slowly and then on the depression/or hump maintain it there for a while(millisecond), then total release the clutch, you will have a smooth release but its hard to do, the the spring is so strong, you cannot resist all the time and will be tiring. Its hard to explain.

Its going for its oil change this friday and I will let the tech test drive it.

I don't really have a strong return spring. See if the tech can stretch out the spring a bit?

Mines a 2013 with 30k on it. I do stutter sometimes out of 1st, more so than other cars but it's not abnormal.
