Gruppe M Intake

Do you guys recommend the Gruppe M intake? Or any other intake?
My most important question is if it will void the warranty?

I personally don't recommend the intake from Gruppe M. It gives the same horsepower gain from removing the charcoal filters in the stock intake. Since you are from Lebenon, your M5 wouldn't have the Charcoal Filters anyways, and putting the Gruppe M Intake in your car would only result in your M5 having better eye candy underneath the hood. Voiding of the warranty would only come if your dealer really really hates you.

I have a similar intake to the Gruppe M one and it also gives some loud and distinct induction and blow off noises. I have tested this intake compared to CF removal with K&N drop-in filters and it is less than .1s faster 60-130mph. I wonder though if the gains will be increased with better exhaust flow (i.e. downpipes) and a tune which increases boost and the overall demand for more air. I should be testing this out soon enough.

How can I be sure if my car has charcoal filters or not? The cars in Lebanon are European specced. Also, what does charcoal filter mean? Sorry for my ignorance.

On USDM M5's they place and additional "charcoal" filter in the intake boxes to help with emissions compliance. If you open the air box it will be nestled in the top of the air box while the regular air filter is situated in the bottom of the air box. You probably don't have the charcoal filter.
