What are ceramic controls? And do you really miss Auto handbrake? I have it on my 535i and I use it maybe once every 3 months.

Beautiful car. Can't wait to take delivery of mine. Should be Saturday!

I always drove my 550 with auto-h on. In the M5 i would have to keep my foot on the brake to prevent roll back rather than be ready to go with the accelerator pedal. I think you lose time at the lights without Auto-H.

Ceramic controls are these:

They are made out of jewellery grade ceramic. Looks fantastic, but also feels like a premium material, whereas our ones feel like plastic. They iDrive knob also seems more weighty in the ceramic version. Note also that the ceramic shifter has a leather gait.

How hard would it be to retro fit the Ceramic controls to the M5? What is the cost of the parts?I know someone did it on the 550 forum. You should be able to do everything but the shifter, Right?

I would like to see the graphite leather option in full over extended, hence my question.

Thank you for the input, stealth.

wdimagineer did it on his 550. I don't know if he has done it on his M5 but I am keen to hear examples. I think it would go well with my Piano Black trim.

Not a huge fan. Bit too bling bling for my taste. But I appreciate the look and the difference in feel (can imagine).
