Powdercoating

I have a 2014 m5 SG with the 601 competition wheels. I also have the option with the glossy grill outline, same around the side air intakes, and reflectors blacked out. (i forgot the name of this option). Either way i really like black wheels and wanted to powdercoat either flat black or some level of glossy black to match the highlights of the car. Any opinions would be welcome specifically regarding 20% vs 80% gloss. Tx.

Never tried it, but have seen a lot of folk (US based, mainly) trying out Plasticoat on wheels. Don't think it's quite as well known or maybe as available in the UK.

No idea how resistant to brake temps it is, but does give you the option of reverting back to stock by simply peeling off the coating. May be worth a play before committing to doing the whole set? Plenty of YouTube vids out there too.

My opinion is that "Satin" black looks the best, still has some sheen to it, but is less of a pain in the ass to clean than gloss black. On wheels this is a much bigger deal...

That's definitely high gloss. Those look nice but if you want the stock sheen like on the blk 343M's it's a satin finish.

stock sheen is a semi/hi gloss mixx !!

powder is def way togo , hi gloss loooks waay better but will require more upkeep due to dust !

had and have and will cotinue to run hi gloss , just keeps the sheen of the paint w out bringing it down !

hi glosss ftw !!

Plastidip is a great way to check out colors on vehicle before you commit to powder coating.

I've had gloss wheels and also satin black. I felt the satin black complimented the car best and it did not always look as dirty as gloss did.

The satin has just enough gloss to compliment the black accents.
