Talking I never let valet guys drive my M5... Am I alone in this?

Since I had difficulty learning DCT myself
I can't seem to trust any valet guy on her...

Funny enough it is about 15F in NC tonight
Coooooool like in literally cooooool cold start!!

This took place tonight coming out of a restaurant to the valet guy and we fired it up and we both laughed -

He understood why I couldn't let him drive or at least expressed understanding and said can't blame you -

The valet guy insisted on having the car just in front of the entrance of the restaurant - when I said I wouldn't have nobody drive my car! But I need valet!
He said I would have parked it right here anyway - 5 feet away from the double doors!!
Never had this treatment before in my juiced up 550i -
Cool but at one point it might be annoying having so much attention about the car!!
It's like the reverse.... I am not the celebrity but tis the car ...hahahaah
LOL

Anyway
Am in this alone?
Do you guys met valet drive your cars...
I can't because I had bad experience very early on like below 500 miles and RPM went in almost red when I hit M2 not knowing back then it was set to Sequential -

It's hard to find parking in LA, and safer to do so as well.

Also, I don't want to look like I'm a valet.

It is but don't wanna go through the hassle of DCT issues because of some innocent valet guy didn't have enough knowledge how to use it correctly!!

Coming from ZF in 550i I always gave it to valet along with X5 50i too but has been around for a long while. .. but that DCT in F10 is a bit new and a bit more complex at first as intuitive as it may seem .. still valet guys are usually very young and in a hurry and need I say wanna have some fun !!

I hate the word meh. It's usually spoken by people who are devoid of passion in their lives. I can't imagine putting that on my license plate!

Live your life with passion. If you're indifferent to something, ditch it.

I freaking love my M5 and I'm not handing the keys to some fucking valet!

Hahahahaha
Thank you
I am not crazy then
I even asked the valet guy "Am I the only one?"
He said "Can't blame you man!"
Not sure what he is referring too -
Probabky knows how hard he drive these cars!
Lobe the Audi S6 Valet Mode where they can't push it hard like RPM of 4 or less and not more than 40mph if I remember correctly

The DCT isn't rocket science. What do you think they will do to break it? If they take your car out on the streets hooning, then yes, that sucks.

Never. I like what Jay Leno said " Anyone Who Valet Parks Their Car is an Idiot" If we go out where there is Valet only, we take my wife's SUV for sure.

Not just that man
My car is not exactly out of the woods of Break In just 1400 miles and also hasn't gotten the service done yet!
So if he goes Sequential not knowing he could easily with that too isolated cabin push it in RED line for a long while till he figures out what's going on with car not pulling hard!!!!! Then ?

I let valets park my M5. I've had no problems with them parking it with the DCT. Now my 911 Turbo, well that's a different story. I usually have them pull the cone for me and I park it myself.

Accidentally hit a wall in creep mode. Scrape the bumper on a parking space curb. Place a stack of keys on the center console causing scratches. Scratch the leather with keys on their belt. Park it in a tight space and then get the car dinged by another valet.

Those are the most likely risks. Less likely but not unheard of is them hooning your car like the valets at the Hyatt in Downtown St. Louis.

I will never Valet the M5 again. I did once and the valet gave the car back telling me it was a fun car. Thx but no thx. I would rather be the one having fun in my own car.

I only valet my car in two places.

A hotel where my M5 fits in like a Lincoln. There are always 1 Bugatti, 5-8 F cars, 4-7 lambos, tons of Rolls Royce's, Maserat's, etc. also it's usually the same guy that parks it, always up front.

I go to a lot of heat games. The valet know me and I educated them on DCT and stress to them about using the parking brake. I put the car in D, then N, when getting out. So they know this is more of a manual car and they don't need to shift.

Elsewhere, I pay to park and keep the key. Can't do that in the above two locations.

Oh yeah and I'm not an asshole about it. At the end of the convo they know I'm a car enthusiast that works hard for the very car I am entrusting them with.

Be one of those *toss keys in air* "keep it in the front" dicks - expect your car to be on a test drive. Don't expect your car to be treated with extra care, and learn some manners and respect.

In general, I never let anyone drive my car. I have had an M3, X6M, now the M5 and only one time I used valet and it was for the X6M.

You Should see the valets in Lebanon... Does not matter if you are kind or not.. Trust me I am extremely kind. I never treat people in a way I dont want to be treated.

Never. Period. But this comes from a guy who loses sleep at the thought of allowing a BMW dealer tech to work on it. My feeling, and in think it is quite justified, is that nobody will take as much care with my car as I will.
