How do you guys minimize wheel spin?

So I'm at a light. M mode enabled with sport plus/sport/sport/D3, and take off fast racing a infinity. I just spin my tires for a second or two before finally gaining speed. The little yellow traction icon comes on a lot. I assume it is just the over-exertion of torque and the RWD, but is there anything to help this beast get more traction from a stand still? I'm honesty afraid to race from a stop because I think my M5 CP would just spin it's tires for a few seconds before finally taking off. Any advice?

Make sure that MDM is on and modulate the throttle. Simple....

Still spins. Traction on the normal street is terrible.

Yes but you can reduce it. Don't floor the gas at first. modulate the throttle to reach 3000-4000 and then floor it

I find the suspension set to comfort mode works best, let's a little extra weight transfer to the rear tires.

If u dont know what MDM is, you should do some research before u use it and mash on the throttle. MDM is partial traction control, but it lets you get sideways. M1 and M2 are just configurable settings and will vary from user to user. For example my M1 button is DSC on, Sport throttle, Sport suspension, Sport Steering and S3 shifting - my M2 button is DSC on, Sport + for throttle and suspension and Sport for Steering.

Drag Radials. Then you can run on kill mode.
Not really practical for a DD. Wet traction is a bit iffy and super high wear rate.

Both my M buttons are DSC off sport plus throttle, sport steering , one with comfort suspension for weight transfer and one with sport plus suspension for fun! I'm 100% DSC off in the dry and full DSC in the rain. Best TC is you're right foot.

Raise the ambient temperature until you find the point that the tire's grip exceeds the heat soak losses on the turbos.

I use the M3 button and kill GTR's all day long. Requires the F80 mode be coded though.

Unfortunately, this car just isn't set up to be a Stop Light Grand Prix champion.

The combination of too much horsepower (well, not really too much) and limited traction are causing your problem. You can try to modulate the throttle a little bit better and make sure to roll on the power (not mash the pedal down).

However, at the end of the day, unless you put on some stickier tires, you aren't really going to solve the problem.

I found on days less then +25C warming up the tires and proper tire pressures are essential. Also try leaving the suspension in the softest setting, this has helped me. If you are still getting a flashing traction light you are either on too much pedal for the conditions or too low a setting on the traction control.

As the OP is from Texas I'd suggest checking out the tire pressure as it should be plenty hot. (unless it is wet out, when attempting)

Question what make are your tires?

Michelin Pilot Sports. The best. My light comes on a lot. Might be the Dallas roads. I don't drive that crazy, but the lack of traction def makes me want the next M5 that is 4wd

Nitto NT05 305/30/20 on my rears.

I run full DSC off except in the rain.
I have traction using my right foot for control.

It would be nice *but* AWD would get you into trouble as you wouldn't know your screwed until you hit the brakes! With the power our M5's are putting down any road with sand/crappy pavement are going to induce wheel spin.

However is not having RWD with lots of power part of the fun? I mean AWD will make you faster but a little tail happy fun at low speeds will get you into less trouble then a 3.2 0-60 and 200mph top speed!
