Possible purchase of a 2012 M5
One of the dealers I visited a few months back contact me about a 2012 M5 with roughly 200km they haven't sold and they want to move that car before the year ends. The SM promised me an unbeatable deal; however, I am still out of town and won't return home until next week. I like to hear thoughts from you guys and wonder what should be my concerns about a 2012 model?
I have noticed people talking about the fellowing issues, 1. oil pump failure (a recall has happened, most likely on early 2013 production) 2. noise from rear wheels or trunk area 3. updated i-drive for 2013 (how much differences are there?) Is there anything else that I need to pay attention to? Your thoughts and inputs are all highly appreciated

Add: oil consumption issue to the list. Mine is drinking about 1litre for every 1100-1200km (post break in). At least the dealer is topping it up for free.
Ultimately, what is the price the dealer is offering to sell ? Although it has almost no mileage, it's considered to be a 1 year old vehicle. If the dealer is preparing to sell at 15% off the list, then it's worth to consider. Otherwise, go for the MY2013 and ask for 5% off the list. Is this Brian Jessel or Auto West ? |

that's very normal.. if you are drinking a liter every 400-500 miles, then you have something to worry about. All my M3's (E36, E46 and E93) did that until about 10,000 miles or so..
