Competition Package Exhaust

I recently leased a 2014 BMW M5 with CP. My exhaust pipes however are normal chrome -- the same as a non-CP M5. I thought the CP adds black-chrome exhaust pipes.

Can someone clarify this for me.

Many thanks,

Yes cp should be black chrome unless they were changed out.

I would run the vin and make sure it's a comp pack.

How did you just get a car without looking at the window sticker?

You leased a new M5 or took over someone else's lease? If it's brand new, then you would expect the tips to be black. I doubt the dealer would swap them out.

I leased a brand new M5 from the dealer. I have the window sticker and it says the car has the competition package. After some research, I found out that the competition package comes with black chrome pipes, but my car has chrome pipes. I'm trying to find out why.

I'm interested in this particular question because I did actually buy CP Mufflers with black tips and replaced my non CP ones and they look way nice than stock chrome especially on Sakir Orange

Dealer might change the Exhaust but the replacement would be MPE. I saw a brand new M6 on dealer's lot with MPE installed. It was 15k marked up BTW.

Wow! That sounds fishy. Unlikely a BMW error. I'm guessing they were swapped somewhere along the way by a greedy folk.

I'll find it hilarious if you've been given one with the akra BMW exhaust with the stainless tips and they apologize and swap them out with the cp exhaust

I checked the VIN and the car has competition package.

Dealer says he doesn't know if they were switched out or the car came with Chrome tips.

I'm not buying.

I have a picture but I don't know how to attach on mobile phone.

Maybe someone switched out your exhaust tips because they like the black ones instead the base m5 chrome.

Attached is a picture of the tips. They look like the standard chrome M5 tips.

Check the stance as well. You'll notice the car sits slightly lower than a non cp. If you snap a pic from the side and we can see the size of the wheel gap I'm sure one of us will be able to see a difference. Also check to see if there are clamps on the exhaust. They would have had to cut them off right after the muffler section if they did swap them.

The VIN doesn't lie. Not unless someone went thru a boatload of trouble.

Hard to imagine BMW making a mistake like this. You either have a non CP car or someone snatched the black exhaust, either way I'd be asking for a new car.

The exhaust tips slip on/off super easy. Someone swapped the tips. It's that simple.
