Sorry the inside looks like crap the outside looks like a high-school kid should own it. Also a driver that experienced could take any car and do that with it.

definitely feel the same way. its as if the manufacturers knew of the same thing. why? for one thing... they put that scion badge for U.S. market and not toyota. i can see TC owners trading "up" but cant see camry owners doing the same.

and all this while knowing their sub-brand subaru is also selling the same car with slightly better looks and tad bit better interior.

guess either way it diminishes the meaning of 86...

It's not a luxury car. There had to be compromise in order to save weight and money. I quite like the exterior

Honestly this thing should be even cheaper, start just under $20k.

Haha, I do think that people have high expectations for this car. I don't think anyone should expect anything unreasonable from this car like more power/amenities. The original Corolla Ae86 was merely a platform for tuners, but it was also inherently good, like this GT86 is. This car is almost the same length as a Miata(a little longer), weighs as much as an RSX, and has a lower center of gravity than a Cayman. With all of the R&D put in this car, it is understandable they are charging a bit more to recoup the losses. I guarantee that this car will become cheaper in time. For now, let's just be happy Toyota and Subaru collaborated to make a genuinely good automobile instead of the usual economy cars they are used to selling.

Funny how all talk about how they miss the M3 E30 and now that there is something close to it they say it lacks power, gadgets, looks, etc...

Whose fault is it that I am going to buy the GT86/BRZ? BMW's, because they have no Z2, I'have been waiting for this car so long and I doubt we'll see it soon, because BMW only builds cars that sell, and they know an underpowered (245 PS) BMW Z2 will not sell.

I just hope Subaru built this motor with the possibility of turbocharging it, even if they don't offer a turbo version. What I'm saying is, my old Impreza's engine couldn't be turbo'd because the motor couldn't handle it. Well, it was possible (a few brave souls tried it), but the psi would have to be so low that the power gains weren't enough to justify the costs. So, if Subaru built this motor without the strength to handle a turbo, I don't see tuners making a whole lot of power out of this thing. It would probably be easier to just do an engine swap.

i saw a couple M3 E30's at the track (i was tracking my 135) at Big Willow and just thought to myself, why did they stray so far from those cars? Then you get the nutswingers comin in and complaining its not luxurious enough...go buy a merc

I hope this car will get other brands like Honda/Acura back in the game. They need it.

The GT86 needs more displacement/power or a turbo/supercharger.

CH is wearing his ss Submariner with pride. I like that.

People say that all the time about Corvettes too.

I guess people don't understand that leather, and walnut trim add a lot of weight.

Leather and walnut trim add some weight, but aircon, electric power seats, windows, satnav and the lot add much more.

looks like an awesome car... curious to see how it would compare to an S2000 or something of the sort? I am just not too sure of the boxer layout, flat 4's generally speaking are not too reliable.

also - can anyone verify the optional mechanical lsd deal?

WTF?! Beetle, anyone? Subarii have been pretty darn reliable for decades with flat fours too.

There is an optional mechanical LSD on both the Scion and Subie.

Torsen LSD is standard on both the Toyota/Scion & the Subaru. Only the stripper versions don't have it as most will get some aftermarket LSD, why pay more for something you won't need.
