Seriously, what color is Sakhir Orange (interior)?

I love the idea of a Sakhir Orange (full) interior. I think it is just freakin' hot... but the more I look at it, the less I can figure out what color it is.

Even in our "interior colors" thread, the shots of the Sakhir are all over the map:

-- Exhibit 1: Seats/console look rust colored, door looks burgundy (in same car!)
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11872260

-- Exhibit 2: Bright red. Looks highly saturated, no way it is this red, right?
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11200111

-- Exhibit 3: Very very orange in all but the first of the shots.
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11275469

I don't remember my old Fox Red 3-series being this "all over the map". Is the color spectrum a function of lighting (and the color will change from orange to red to burgundy) or is it more an issue of photography/flash/etc.?

So... anybody in Austin have an X6M with Sakhir that I can poke my head into??

As with any red/orange color it's a hard color to photograph accurately. Cameras have a hard time with it and it usually ends up overly saturated. In the case of Sakhir Orange, it ends up looking much redder than it actually is, or even fully red (which it's not... it is named "orange" afterall).

From seeing it in person at the Frankfurt M5 debut, I think these pics by clar of his Sakhir Orange interior look pretty accurate to me.

Exhibit 2 looks more accurate to my eyes.

I don't think they have ever made a Fox Red in Merino. Hmm... I wonder how much Coral red would cost to get as an Individual. Decisions, decisions. (I'll probably just end up sticking with the Silverstone).

Thanks!

I agree with Jason. I think the photos are pretty accurate with the first being closest to the M5 I spent an hour and a half in. It is classy, just a little too loud for me. That's why I went for Silverstone !!

How have you found the silverstone when it comes to caring, jeans etc. I really don't want another black interior car and was hoping for something fresh. I wish they had a cinnamon - that would be my pick!

I have seen a couple of used M3's with Silverstone leather and I think it wears horribly -areas color ia absent, darker areas and areas that look white-ish and these are cars on a BMW showroom floor so I assume they were detailed- based on this I would keep away.

OP, I agree that Jason's photos (when viewed on my monitor) are pretty accurate with what I saw on an M6. Hopefully your monitor is similar to mine, I guess. And yep, Fox Red has the same resistance to accurate photography.

The M3 had Palladium Silver, not Silverstone, but that's discouraging because I'm interested in Silverstone as well.

Just as I thought! I saw it on a few cars at the M experience and the seats were beat up pretty bad. Just didn't know how long term care would be. I gotta be honest I am not loving BMW's standard selection for the M5. A cinnamon brown would be perfect.

Ugh.

A. Do we have any pics of an F10 with Cohiba brown? The ones I keep seeing are from M6's with contrast stitching, and leather dash/door uppers. That looks awesome, but I worry that a fully cohiba/black interior without contrast is going to look "ugly brown" and not "classy brown".

B. Does anybody know whether BMW has ever done a Fox Red merino? I only ever see it in Dakota (or was it Nappa).

C. From looking around, it seems that the Coral red is very red compared to the fox red.

(Am thinking of backing off the Singapore Grey w/ Greystone and going to my first preference AW + a reddish (brick red, not bright) interior. The Sakhir is just too orangey. Which bimmer red is the "merino brick red" equivalent?

Luckily, I don't want my ED until April, so have a few weeks before my dealer is going to hold my feet to the color-fire.

If your ED isnt until April you should have 6-8 months before you need a color

Really?? He keeps telling me that I need a color for him to put the order in, and than changing the color at some point the future necessarily causes my ED date to be pushed back.

Nah, I'm looking at a September ED and was told my color needs to be in by July. Same experience on my M3 last year, about 8 weeks lead time.

Cohiba pics will be tough to come by since it's a new color and Individual, so I'd keep an eye on the Interior Photos Thread: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=587448

Fox Red was only ever done in Novillo (that color and that leather were only ever used in the M3, I believe). Apparently Novillo is similar in feel to Nappa, but I'm not speaking from experience of Nappa.

Coral Red is extremely bright compared to Fox Red. Fox Red is sort of a terra cotta (think a slightly darker and slightly redder version of the clay pots you see for plants and such), whereas Coral is really RED. Not quite stop sign red but not far off either. Fox Red is probably closest to your "brick red", with Cinnamon from the E46 being next.

You should be able to find Coral relatively easily on a dealer's new or used lot since it was available on the base 3 Series. Fox Red shouldn't be too tricky to find either either on dealer lot M3s or maybe at a car meet near you?

I'd take Imola Red over all of them..still regret not getting it in the e46

Pretty sure Imola was never offered as an interior color, and that was all I was talking about in the post of mine that you quoted.

Agreed it's a great color if you like red exteriors though!

Crap! That Sakhir Orange is too brown! I love the way it shows in all the other photographs and was hoping that Clar's photos were incorrect.

Now I'm thinking I don't want Sakhir with my Singapore Gray M5. Will probably go Silverstone notwithstanding wear issues. I won't be driving the car that much so wear hopefully won't be a problem.

f-that. I am going to be driving my F10 tons, all the time even. Heck, I may even sleep in it.

Actually the e46 M3 had Imola interior as well as exterior. I couldn't pull the trigger back then though.
