Wow, regardless of what the end time was, it's trap speed that tells you just how fast this car is. 122 mph is insane, that's just as fast, or faster than a Nissan GTR. Not bad for a good sized family sedan. Add some tuning and you are talking about numbers that are just unreal!!!

Latest M5

Having just sold my 08 M5, I am relieved that the factory was sandbagging us this whole time. I was convinced, once I saw how fast the X5Ms were, that there was no way the new M would be slower. I have been driving an F10 N55 for a few weeks and I am beginning to see what a better suspension, drivetrain and all the rest will only make the F10 M5 a car that will be hard to beat by its peers of the same size and power. I soon as I get to see one in person, I will place my order.

I would trust a magazine over you any day. Come on these are journalists. They are not always 100% scientific nor statistical but they do a good job at finding the best reasonable numbers they can. I also seriously question your claim about employment based on the points below.

Come on, testing modified cars and claiming they are stock. Rubbish. Now perhaps some car companies NA divisions knowingly give them a ringer, sure possible, likely though, not often.

It does not make much difference as to where they test. ALL of their straight line figures are corrected for temperature and altitude. Although such corrections may not be perfect, in general they are accurate enough.

Lastly -1000 ft density altitude should give a roughly 5% power change or about 30 hp in the case of the M5. It is nowhere close to 50-70 hp. Have a look at this quick calculator: http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_hp_dp.htm .

Wow, pot, kettle, black. I don't track many manufacturers but BMW is notorious across all models and for as long as I have been following them to drastically under report cars actual capabilities. In other words, a mediocre driver on a hot day and on a so-so surface could achieve the numbers they state. The other reason we know this to be true is simply from a legal point of view. If most folks could not reproduce their numbers they could have lawsuits galore. However, when nearly everyone bests the factory numbers they can go home thinking good about their "skills".

Does this car have cast or forged internals and how much boost does it make?

I must say that a lot of people on this thread are posting their emotions. So typical and for pure entertainment only. Very few are really, or could really answer the technical questions. More speculation and for more entertainment rather than informative information. CD is one car mag. Let's hold off the celebration until the others report it. Besides, speed is to relative. Appears to be a fast M5 for sure, though.

Just curious - Do you believe that other results from magazines/journalists will be drastically worse than these? Although I have no crystal ball for sure, I'd be willing to place a large bet that the other major mags report numbers that are right in the same general range.
