I'm having doubts about ordering the competition pack. The only materially different things are the suspension and steering. Boost is trivial and exhaust pales in comparison with an Eisenmann which I would install anyway.

Personally I love the suspension as is so it's not something I would care about.

$6k seems like a lot to pay for steering improvement.

Does anyone have a sense of how CP affects resale.

With CP my build is speccing out at $122k.

Although having those memories with adjustable side bolsters would have been that much sweeter.

I want the suspension improvements! But then again, I might just wait for a sleeve over kit and some good anti roll bars to hold me over. The dyno chart seems like it was improvised lol, the power increase is perfectly linear!

So here's my plan, trade in my 2013 M5 for a 2017 M5 in September of 2016 and then wait 3 years for when the 2nd model year of the G-Series M5 comes out so I'm not a first year buyer again. Who knows, it might work.
Agreed however I still don't like how BMW went about introducing all these upgrades. The differences may be negligible or quite apparent either way this is hardly something for me to b*tch about; we are blessed to own these machines! I am keeping the beast for atleast another 2 years before doing anything - really enjoying the R8GT and M5 dynamic of my stable. Next painful purchase for me will be the wife's SUV swap next year.

I am a current R8 GT owner, but need to change soon to a 4 door. I was looking at all the usual 4 door performance cars from Audi, MBZ, Porsche, and BMW. I am leaning towards the M5 (2014). I wanted to see if you could compare the two. I know this is "apples to oranges" comparison, but does the 4 door give you the same exhilaration and sporty driving as the R8GT?

Don't forget about life and age passing by, we're not immortal after all as they say " it's good to have mustard in time, not after dinner" or "a spoon is dear when lunch time is near" etc. I once counted that if I live, I'll see 4 more generations of M5 and, considering age and money, I would visualize myself in 2/4 of them. BMW is playing on emotions and desires of passionate customers but their "evil CEOs" won't live forever to use (abuse?) all the money victimized enthusiasts throw at ///Ms.

Expect to hear plenty of this 1 year after the M3/M4 is introduced.

I'd be interested in picking up the new sway bars when they're available. The M could use some reduced body roll.

A few short months after I collected my M5, some guy asked in this forum about the LCI M5. I thought he was an idiot to be asking about LCI when the car just started shipping. Turns out, i was the idiot. M cars really do ship just before the LCI is introduced to the series cars. Lesson learnt. I will not be considering buying the next M car at least until a year and a half later...

This is just nothing new to BMW. They have always done it. Not sure why anyone is at all surprised or upset. Most car manufacturers do it. Was considering a Porsche recently and asked the question about when the mid model update would be and they gave me an estimated time frame. It is marketing at its finest. I bought a 2013 pre-lci and upgrading to 2014 M6. You have to either know or do research before purchasing if you are unfamiliar with the brand.

Agree. Also it struck me that the Performance school instructors never use Sport+ because the stiffness destabilizes the car over bumps.

So I don't are a suspension benefit here.
The stiffer settings are for straighter driving. Sport+ is specifically autobahn straight line. Track is best in comfort. We had along discussion on here several months back about proper settings. Setting the car on comfort steering completely changes the personality and removes the "heavy" feel of the car. If you drive the standard 2104 M5/M6 you will find a significant improvement in the steering. It is much "lighter" and far more connected feeling. I am hoping the comp pkg further enhances that as expected.

"In summary, springs rates and damping rates are increased by 20%, stabilizer rates by 15% and the steering ratio by 10%. See below for the information, as well as a steering ratio chart and torque/power dyno graph."

Can anyone comment on whether the 20% increase described above directly translate into a 20% harsher ride in all 3 suspension settings or does it not work like that?

I think you can shave off almost $4k if you can live with only one B&O audio system.
