True
And it is amazing that I was reading in another them read how a dealership almost totaled a car for a customer while test driving!
And they will fix it!
R u kidding me?

And by the way, just because a restaurant or hotel has a bunch of expensive cars is not indicative in the slightest of competency, as some have directly or indirectly insinuated. This would not be good deductive logic, anymore than assuming that someone with money has good sense...sheesh.

No, no. I'm not talking about a restaurant. It's a hotel that drives high end cars all day everyday. I know the guys. They move it less than 50 feet (kept in front),

That's probably a special situation.

All else, I agree with you. Nice place with nice cars can have a reckless employee. Just how the valet industry is.

Nope. Never. Have you ever seen Ferris Bueller? Valet gets behind an M5 and it's going for a joyride that includes an airborne hill jump.

NEVER. I'm quite sure 99.9% of them don't know about the dct. Even if they did, I will drop off the family at the front, and I will go find a parking spot. Or, like another member stated, park the car, pay them and keep my keys. Even when I go to the store, I park away from everyone. Not just in this car, but all my cars.

Interesting read so far. I never had a single problem valeting my E90 M3 and it has DCT. I even took it over to Carmax on Sunday to get a quote for them to purchase it. Everyone there knew how to drive it. Every valet I have ever met has been able to drive pretty much every type of dual clutch gear box. The only problem I ever had was back with my '03 M3 when the valet couldn't figure out how to start the car with the SMG. That was entertaining.

As for letting the valet park the M5... I've got no problem with it. I'm not trying to come off as a snob, but out here in Phoenix/Scottsdale all of the valets have driven far nicer cars than the M5. Heck, I even let them Valet our Ferrari California this past weekend when my wife and I went out to the movies.

Funny you mention Ferris Bueller in one of these posts, here is the license plate on our California!

Certainly in LA where valet parking is pretty much the only option at many places (where self-park options are less safe or entirely inconvenient), there's no choice much of the time. The Valet folks are certainly capable of handling the DCT. They see these kinds of oddball gear boxes all the time.

Grease the valet a few bucks *when you arrive*, ask them to keep the car up front or close by and I've never had an issue. Much of the time it's kept in sight and you can watch them park your car.

Places like monolithic hotels in Vegas where losing sight of your car is a guarantee - just know they're going to have some fun with your car while they are parking it. That's just reality.

I will go so far as to say that in the infrequent occurrence (1 or fewer a year) that I am trapped in the manner you describe above, to drive one of my kids cars, or some option like that. I'm telling you, it ain't happening...

Live your life with passion. If you're indifferent to something, ditch it.

I freaking love my M5 and I'm not handing the keys to some fucking valet!
You are right, I should sell my car.

Living in south Florida valet is everywhere! And I tend to take advantage of it! Too rules to live by when you valet the beast:

1) Tip well
2) ask for an upfront spot/ if no upfront spot I will wait while it's parked and locked before I walk away... Carefully listening for any screaming of the exhaust

Man if you put Meh on your license plate you have more problems than the car. I suggest you sell the car, ditch your wife or girlfriend if she doesn't excite you, and also get rid of any mediocre uninspiring people you work with.

How about this, when you take it to a hand wash, are you guys okay with someone driving the car? I am okay with that.

In Lebanon, it is very typical for valet to take cars for a Joy ride. You can constantly see them revving the cars. Two experiences for me: When I first go the M5, I could not find a spot, so I gave the car to the valet, when i got it back, he came giggling and said: That's a fun car you have there.
The other experience, The first week we picked up an A6 a couple of years ago, we gave it to Valet and it came back with 6 extra Km on the odometer. 6km for Lebanon is a lot.

Really? You are going to start this? I'd sooner let a valet drive my car than have someone wash it, but of course, neither will happen.

Here we go...
