I almost canceled mine not because of the delays but because of all the issues discovered with the car, such as the problem with the rear coil springs. If people report this problem on the 2013 models before I pick up my car, then I'll probably cancel my order...

Reports of weak brakes, no carbon-ceramics, bad rear coils... In the meantime I'm enjoying Panamera GTS. I am going to test drive M5 and GTS back to back before I decide. It's going to be a tough decision.

There are already 2013 F10 5 Series deliveries in the US and those cars have the new navigation.

As we said previously reported, the US M5 will have the new navigation pro.

New Jersey IS a "CARB State", so BMW can't sell the M5 in New Jersey until it has a CARB EO.
All the socialist states.

But why don't the rest of us down here in free Dixie get our M5s?

Jason, you must have some inside info or "connections" to find out what is really going on here, no?

You never know. M models don't always get the upgrades the same year as their lower end models.

I'll be extremely unhappy if I have a problem with the rear springs. They had the time to fix it obviously since it has been sitting here at the port 3 weeks. There was no need for them to rush it. Being my first BMW, I hope its not common for them to sweep problems under the rug and hope no one notices or complains. I feel uneasy knowing I may have to bring it in for a fix and have local mechanics take it apart to repair it. You would think they would have discovered this problem in their R&D.

For the record, can someone provide a link to where it states the official US launch date is 9/1?

By the way, BMW, if you are reading this, how about quit being cheap and provide some kind of canopy above the cars at the port? Why would you let $100k+ vehicles sit outside, especially with the increasing hotter summers lately?! What if it decided to hail?

I've made an inquiry, but haven't heard back. Will be sure to share if I do.

True, but we didn't base our report off the fact that the F10 5 series gets the navigation professional. It's based on representations I received from BMWNA.

The question is when they'll start using the new coil springs. It was reported that they'll start replacing the old ones for new ones in December 2012. Nobody seems to know when they'll start using the new springs in newly produced cars.

People have also reported engine management software problems which require software patches. Again, nobody knows when the fixes will be included in newly produced cars.

I can't wait to read some reports from new owners of 2013 cars - please drive on rough roads and speed bumps and let us know if the rear suspension makes clunking noises!

I actually had to drive by the NJ port today and saw tons of trucks carrying GMCs and some Range Rovers. I would think that Range rovers would be in closed trailers but guess not. I should of stopped by and knocked on the door to say WTF let the M5s out

On todays weather - it did rain cats and dogs here in jersey and on the news they showed some hail as well, but i dont think it could of done any damage. Or could it? Hmm.

You make people pay premium to get theirs cars first. This is the difference between APPLE and BMW. You also leave the cars outside for weeks under the weather elements. These cars are already owned. BMW has no right to keep them away form their owners. Apple does not make you do that. BMW through its dealers also blamed the government while it was the one behind the holding of the car. I have been without a car for almost three months.

We demand the release of our cars now.
Omar:

If you live in New Jersey BMW cannot legally deliver the car to you until there is a CARB EO for the car.

If you read the EPA certificate it clearly states that the manufacturer cannot put the vehicle into commerce until it has a CARB EO (in CA and the other "CARB States").

So, unless you want BMW to break federal law, they cannot legally deliver you the car.

Patience. This is like my 5yr old crying to me that there's a new game out for his Wii and he knows its in the store but cant understand why we cant just go get it. Patience. The car will be worth the wait. Complaining won't help you get it any faster and will only frustrate you more. Once you do take delivery, you wont even remember the wait. My X6 sat at the port for some time before the CARB cert and it sucked but what can you do? Try waiting for a stateside delivery after a Euro delivery at the welt. Thats tough too. All worth the wait though. All the best to everyone waiting for cars. Cant wait to see all the new delivery pics.

Imagine 2.5 weeks from now when we take delivery of our cars and the first US cars are photographed and posted on this forum - it's going to be awesome!

For those of you contemplating canceling your orders, let's be realistic, how upset will you be when you see an M5 flying past you on 9/2 knowing that you could also be an owner of what some people consider "the best sedan ever"? That thought exactly is what pulled me off the edge of cancelling mine!
I applaud your realistic viewpoint and ability to refrain from throwing a temper tantrum because you have to wait an extra week or two more for the car.

I'm so friggin busy with life the time flies by. It will be here before i know it.

Go have a kid and you won't even think about your new car. You'll be so deep in fun, happiness, work, lack of sleep and dirty diapers you won't care when the car shows up.

Everyone relax. It's not worth getting worked up over it. They are almost here.

We leased many cars from them and just returned my X5 50i 3 weeks ago and my 750i is going back at end of the month. I rented a car for a week and i happened to ask and they said we'll drop one off at my office. Happy that i didn't have to pay as rental with insurance would cost me $500/week!

Ditto, my son is 5 weeks old and I couldn't be happier in life! The lack of sleep is a bit painful, but the whole experience is so awesome! Yesterday he was awake for about 30 minutes and I explained the delay in getting "our" new M5, he seemed to understand me and was on board with being patient!
