Anytime... Granted I'm getting more impatient by the day, because I still don't have one yet rockville was all like "oh yeah I'm sure you'll have it by May/June" Meanwhile I sit at that production status...

Here's what happened with the last generation of cars. Pretty cool.

im repeating myself here, but the m4 wont come anywhere close to the new gt3.

were talking about a car that beat the maclaren 12C around a track.

its ring lap time was like 7:25.

0-60 mph, 3 seconds. 0-100 mph, 7.1 seconds.

M3 is a poor man's sports car. It's never going to beat the real P-cars. BMW takes "clues" from P-cars about the mainline technologies (dual clutch transmission, carbon fibre, pre-tensioned turbos, merino leather, yada yada yada), but they never claim that the M3 is an actual competitor to any of the real 911s. The 991s has a ring time of 7:37. That's just ridiculous, 15 seconds faster.

That's true. Porsche is a poor man's exotic car. I completely agree with that statement.

There is nothing poor abt the M3. BMW never claim to rival Porsche. Of course they don't because the M3 is not a direct rival to any Porsche. Look at the price differential will u! The fact that M3 gets compared to a dedicated sports car from Porsche speaks volume of the excellence in M. Wanna compare with Porsche? Wait for the next mid-engined M. M3 is a do-it-all all rounded performance car and not a narrowly focused sports car.

Calling something a "poor man's xxx" is nothing but bigotry, typically uttered by ego maniacs.

I'm in agreement with Gnazulu though, I really don't care which one is faster 0-60, it's almost a pointless metric to me. Rolling race and track lap times are more conclusive. I've always felt it's fun to debate about these metrics too, but I have nothing to prove to anyone. I'll be doing some rolling races next month though, so that should be fun. Have seriously thought about another car because I do feel the need to go to the track more since I live in car enthusiast hell, where I don't have wide open country roads or desolate desert roads to race around in anymore, so the M3/M4 has been on the decision plate for a little while now. But I'm still wanting/willing to explore the capabilities of the F10 M5. I mean no one really knows what a 750+hp F10 M5, with Carbon Ceramic Brakes, lightweight 20" wheels, and 285mm tires in front/305mm tires in back, can do at VIR or Watkins Glen or Lime Rock. I feel like I want to really push that envelope instead of just giving up because the F10 M5 is 4,400lbs and driving a lighter car with less power is a better choice. So in essence, I'm looking to answer a question that no-one really knows the answer too, can a heavy F10 M5 be a great track car with modifications? I believe the E60 M5 community proved that question to be true for the E60 M5.
Thanks Dave
I was just curious -
M4 and M3 are not on my radar as too small interior and a little bit too boy racer feel and look for me -

Totally agree, Porsche tech is crap just for the record, light years behind BMW's, but the Prices of "P" cars is high.

Fastest laps says 7:37 for 991s. M3 did it in 7:52.

Regardless, even if its 8 seconds, thats a lifetime in track time terms. An M3 will never beat a 991s. It may get close to it and if that 8 or 15 seconds were 1-2 seconds, that would be a huge accomplishment but its far from it.

Nor should it when a well optioned Pcar vs. a loaded m3/m4 is nearly double or more the price... These things matter, it was never meant to compete with the elite Porsches [I could stomp the best cayman r's with my stock e92] and it wasn't even meant to step on the m5/m6s toes [like everyone on m4 post seems to think... Personally I'll be happy if piggy, dps, exhaust and intake, meth and race gas get me back near my stock m5 whp numbers which means the dropped weight and aerodynamics should make it a blast]

The two exceptions I see of cars competing outside their price class are the GTR and Z06, beyond that everything else seems to have drawbacks and limitations on what cars they can compete with.
